Still some International action to come but our next game is nearly upon us.

Guess the big question is will Ronaldo start? I am guessing he will. He should have a couple of training sessions and is up to speed with some action for Portugal. Can’t wait to see him again!

De Gea

AWB - Varane - Maguire - Shaw

Fred - Pogba

Greenwood - Bruno - Sancho

Ronaldo

Hopefully Sancho is fit but if not I guess Martial will be on the left. I would say Ronaldo will be more of a starter up top although I guess him from the left and Cavani up top is an option. Will be intriguing to see how Ole fits all these guys in. I would also think Pogba will play in a two alongside Fred.

Rumour is Ronaldo won't start, he'll only have one session with the rest of the team after isloation.

Not going to change my FF this week.

Think Sancho is out

That’s definitely an FF conundrum, I’ve got Ronaldo in there but will he start. Tempted to put him on the bench but I heard he will be training on Thursday so will have a couple of sessions before Saturday.

Sancho is out of the England games but the reports were it wasn't serious and he'd be back for Newcastle and there's been photos of McTominay back training so we will have to wait and see. My guess is at best they make the bench not fit enough to start.

I think it's West Ham midweek in the league cup after this one so the schedule starts to get a bit busier. Utd dropped a lot of silly points at home last season we got off to a flier vs Leeds and the ground should be bouncing again on Saturday with the return of Ronaldo so hopefully they can put in another performance and get some momentum again for this little batch of fixtures before the next internationals.

For me there's no way Ronaldo doesn't start not with all the hype around him he played the full 90 minutes last week for Potugal and won't have played since my guess is he starts and plays about 60-70 minutes.

We obviously expect Newcastle to play very defensively and look to counter attack being direct to Wilson who on his day can be a handful and use the dribbling of Saint-Maximan who similarly on his day can cause any team problems.

Given they'll look to defend deep I think we should be able to play Pogba in the 2 in midfield to get an extra attacking player in the line up.

I read he's in quarantine until Friday

He has to do 5 day quarantine he arrived in the UK on Thursday so I think he needs to pass a day 2 and day 5 test before he can end his quarantine.

So assuming he gets his results back within 24 hours he should be free to leave his home on Wednesday and will likely train with the team on Thursday/Friday.

Given most lads are away on internationals it's likely most will only train Thursday/Friday anyway depending on what day they return.

That said it would be hilarious if he couldn't play given there's loads of idiots online paying £1000's for tickets every single one of those people deserves this to happen and should be held personally responsible.

yeah just saw that on the app, so much for him being in quarantine until Thursday. Stupid press

Still only going to get one days training with the team though because of the internationals. I think he'll start on the bench vs Newcastle

Is what I expect us to go with.

Ronaldo

Is what i'd like to see.

It's Newcastle lets just get on the ball and score plenty in his homecoming.

I think the top one is what we'll see.

Can't change Ronaldo in my FF anyway, I only have 1 transfer, I thought we got one during international week but apaprantly not. So most of my team are injured :-( not sure whether to swap him in and lose 4 points,

Given how much hype they've put around it unless he's got a fitness problem he'll start he's Ronaldo FFS this is a bit different and it's Newcastle at home.

Bruno I think had 1 training session with the team went straight in for his debut and was the best player on the pitch by a mile in a terrible 0-0 draw with Wolves that I was at. Maguire from memory was signed just before the deadline and went straight in the side.

He also did pre season with Juventus and has played matches I doubt he'll do the 90 minutes unless Utd are stuck at 0-0 but I'd be truly gobsmacked if he was on the bench.

Not like he needs to learn some intricate functional system of play that involves pressing from the front as we don't do that all he needs to know is where he stands when we defend set pieces. As that's another thing he's going to add is another 6ft plus guy who's brilliant in the air.

right @jsp I've just used 4 points getting him in the side so you better be right. He needs to score 4 points more than Sancho and Ings combined! If not I blame you

I haven't put him in my team yet decided to see how this weekend pans out before going for the wildcard I have Bruno but my thinking is Ronaldo will reduce Bruno's impact as he'll get on the free kicks and penalties so I might have to drop Bruno to bring Kane in up top.

Had to make 2 transfers as Martinez needs to quarantine and Deeney was sold so wanted to sell him before his value dropped as he was my sub striker.

Fred may not be available as FIFA haven't yet confirmed if players who didn't travel for internationals due to Covid will face sanctions.

Threats were made and lets just hope they were empty ones.

Any side with any pretension of challenging for the title has to beat Newcastle at home (and probably away). No excuses, no slow starts, no buggering around...

Or in Freds case, lets hope they weren't empty.

Problem is... McTominay is already out and I think Matic is playing an international game this week isn't he? So I hate to say it but United need Fred.

Surely DVDB is good enough for Newcastle

Matic is at Carrington

Matic has retired from international football.

It's not confirmed if McTominay is out yet he is also training at Carrington this week.

I think we may well see McT if he is training this week. If he isn’t fit then I guess it would be Matic and Pogba in the middle.

I think the clubs will all appeal the ban and players will be available this weekend.

Think we'd rather Fred missed this weekend and was back for next wouldn't we?

If McTominay isn't fully fit this weekend surely we want him?

Currently Fred also misses the CL game in midweek.

It sets a dangerous precedant if the clubs accept these bans because in a months time all these players will be in the same situation again for the next international break.

When the alternative is Matic I'll take Fred every day no matter how much he does my head in he can at least move around the pitch unlike Matic who was finished at the top level 2 seasons ago.

All our midfield options are far from perfect but sadly Fred is probably the best of the bunch.

Screw if, let’s not even play a central midfield! Just play all attackers and let Ronaldo do his magic. You score 5, we’ll score 6.

With Fred out and Ronaldo in that should force us to change our shape --but I think Ole will stick with the 4231 in this era of 'not losing' being more planned for than outright winning. No-one is going to appreciate being left out of the starting line up in Ronaldo's homecoming. Also read Sancho is out injured.

I think it will be this. It all will come down to how mobile Matic is, if he can find space and do the defensive work that Pogba is going to leave behind.

2-0 us. Ronaldo brace.

AWB----Varane---Maguire----Shaw

----------Matic------Pogba--------

Greenwood-----Bruno-----Martial

---------------Ronaldo--------------

I'd like to think because it's Newcastle we can let loose. Maybe VDB in for Pogba up there, and Pogba takes Martial's starting spot. I think Ole's plan is going to be 'pump it to Ronaldo'. How are we going to fit in Sancho and Rashford when they're back? We should be crazy good at that point.

Think when everyone is fit not everyone is going to fit in the team but it should give us options to rotate and keep people fresh especially in the wide positions where fresh legs can be devestating against teams who are tiring. Utd now have 3 or 4 players who can beat players in one vs one situations in Sancho, Martial, Greenwood and Rashford plus two really powerful/clinical centre forwards in Ronaldo/Cavani.

The challenge will be how do we create space for these players to get one vs one against the opponent really this comes from quick movements of the ball which is where our moves can often break down but with threats on both wings this seasons teams won't be able to overload one side.

Against Newcastle at home they absolutely should be looking to go more attacking and bring in VDB.

I didn't watch Juve, but they said on the radio Ronaldo refused to play through the middle, so are we expecting him to play wide?

so excited btw
