Racism in Today's Multi Cultural Society

I do use Twitter and Instagram but you will only see what these companies think you want to see outside of the people you chose to follow I've obviously never searched for this stuff or don't follow people who might post it so I don't see it. That is the danger of social media it closes off the internet as a whole and just fires at you things it thinks you want to engage on so if you've searched for that sort of stuff on your social media page just doing a bit of research it will fire that stuff in your direction again.

Racism isn't a UK only problem and it really doesn't surprise me that a lot of it comes from that part of the world but we can't always be sure most idiots who do this stuff probably use VPN's which may suggest they are from somewhere outside the UK when they aren't.

One thing that I do think has been a sensible move is the media no longer show the tweets or comments on their websites they don't give the idiot who did it the attention they seek. They report that it's happened which I think is important but don't make that person famous.

Love this guy.

Ask anyone from a minority if they believe that? We may be diverse but there's huge chunks of our population who are not tolerant we are far from the worst but we are also far from perfect which is what we need to be aiming towards. Sadly we are becoming a more and more divided nation on many topics.

Being against the knee is fine that is your choice just ignore it let it happen and then crack on with watching the game. But booing it as people were doing suggests you are totally against the message it represents, which is one of inclusion and unity among people from different backgrounds taking a stand against racism in society which we all know exists. Those who boo taking the knee to me are basically saying they don't agree with this message to me that is basically supporting racism.

The government at the start of the euro's refused to support the players on this issue instead defending the rights of those who chose to boo them which encourages them to continue. Now they want to say they support the players because they've been successful and the country love them which seems to be how this lot operate they jump on the side of popularity.

It's a different topic but there's strong suggestions Johnson signed off on the european super league before it was announced and then went back on it when he saw how the public reacted. Just like the football team now they're the nations darlings suddenly they want to associate themselves with them so are back tracking on things they said previously they want to try and play both sides of the debate.
Disagree many see taking the knee ( Rightly or wrongly) as subservience to the Marxist BLM I personally wouldn't boo players taking the knee but would support the right of people to boo its called freedom of expression we live in a democracy right ?

I would say I don't think people booing the knee are genuinely racist. I think people booing the knee are booing the BLM political movement and struggle to seperate the taking the knee as stand for equality and taking the knee in support of BLM.

They became entangled at one point and haven't fully seperated since in many eyes But when Kaepernick started the knee it was all about equality not everything else BLM the political movement brought with it.

BLM the political movement is getting what it wanted and causing more division. Whilst there are a few people who probably disagree with equality I don't believe it's anywhere near the numbers you have booing. It's got to be because they associate it with BLM.
That's actually spot on

I'm gonna assume because you don't often use Twitter and Instagram? As it's been all over my feeds. Mainly shared by women that hate the game and a quick Google yesterday showed that they were false.

I don't want to post them but look at the Ukisntinnocent tagged photos. They have now removed the original from their page or had it removed. I know I reported it as fake news so if many others did they may have had it taken down. But it was liked 400k times and shared however many times more and is on their tagged photos.

I did just see an Instagram analysis that says over 50% of the racial insults came from 6 countries

India
UAE
Egypt
Iran
Saudi Arabia
Pakistan

4% being generated in the UK.

It's only a picture on WhatsApp I've seen at the moment though so have asked for a source.

4% is too much of this vile shit but not the avalanche of English Racism purported by the MSM. I hope they will put the record straight ( Not holding my breath though )

Apparently a lot were also from Eastern Europe if you can get a link please post

Not racism related, more English lad culture.

He nails it though.

100% i've said you can boo all you want or be against the knee but you can't decide what the message is when you are told what the message is.

If you decide to boo you are saying I am against that message.

Many people will still boo as they don't see the knee as an anti racist message but a political one hijacked by BLM and here lies the problem

Well its about time

4 people arrested in the UK over the racism directed at the England players after the penalty shoot out.

Johnson also wants changes to banning orders giving courts more powers for banning fans who are caught being racist at football.

Football has a problem with racism but it's not the only sport with the problem and that can't be forgotten in all this.

What other sports have a problem like football? (Genuine question as I get it thrown at my all the time how it's only ever football fans).

I know F1 do in other countries but not here.

I guess the worst sports to be hit will be team sports, if you're racist you're not going to follow a single sports person who's is black.

Golf, single sport mainly, hardly any black players, F1, hardly any black drivers. Athletics, single person sport. Cricket, mainly white players at the moment.

But I imagine most sports and non sports people get some amount of grief. If a person is racist, and thinks they can hide then everyone is game? Football is the biggest watched sport, is a team game and has plenty of black players so is ripe for it.

But football has been rife with this kind of thing for years, it's never gone away. Is it group mentality? Lack of education? who knows.

I think some kind of ID needs to be done for access to an account on these platforms.

Maybe some tech boff can set one up and make a fortune. If all the famous people leave to use a more secure platform that would change these tech companies minds very quickly.

Lewis Hamilton gets plenty of grief from people in the UK but given that sports lack of diversity it's not as big a topic I certainly think at times he's been targetted in the same way the likes of Sterling was in the media because he was black.

"(insert sport) racism row" into google and loads of stuff comes up

ECB currently investigating historic racist tweets by England International players Ollie Robinson was also banned earlier this year. There's also problems whenever you have touring sides from Asia but it doesn't always get the coverage.

Rugby League a Wigan player was suspended for using racist language

Rugby Union there's a few stories about players getting banned.

Racism reflects society within society there are racists and some racists will follow sports it isn't just a football problem or a sport problem it's a society problem.

it is a society problem, but if a larger % of football fans are racist than other sports is becomes a football problem.

Not only that, football could and should do more, regardless of where the problem originates. It has a huge global audience and doesn't do anywhere near enough.

Really, if the final was in Ukraine and all this happened everyone would be shouting from the rooftops that they shouldn't get WC2030. Really. They should be thrown out of entering the race by FIFA

Have football fans proven to be more likely to be racist than fans of other sports? I highly doubt any sort of accurate survey has ever been done to answer that question.

Football can only do so much and I'd argue that football is one of the most inclusive sports in the world but some of the barriers to beating racism are well outside it's sphere of influence.

dunno, I said if.

We do hear about it more, but that's because it's reported on more. No doubt football could do more though.

Football could do more but others could do a LOT more is how I see it.

I think football especially in the UK has done a lot more to call it out than it gets credit for the players have united to take a stand with an anti racism message before every game, fans are being encouraged to report racism/homophobia/anti-semitism in the stands and people are being punished for it.

Data analytics firm Crisp have said that 3% of the messages the players received were hate speech based on colour / sexuality.

I think we can all agree that whilst wrong that it's definitely a minority.

We are all learning in regards to racism and discrimination, in the UK especially when it comes to colour and origin.
In Frank Bruno's heyday ( it may have been mine as well) he was called and considered an Uncle Tom by many of his fellow black folks (just because he won the hearts of white folk). That's racism! Thankfully the likes of Ashley Banjo is no longer given such a label and hopefully our more diverse (and colourful) neighbours can recognise their own role in the fight against racism and discrimination.
I am happy to stand up against racism, but only with likeminded people! It needs to be all in and it doesn't allow for black people calling other black people Uncle Tom's.
