Derek Chauvin found guilty on all 3 charges relating to the murder of George Floyd.

Second degree murder
Third degree murder
Second degree manslaughter

Bit of a tricky one for the ECB I personally think they've done the right thing here and suspended him while it's reviewed they have to take action against this stuff if they do nothing people will say they don't take it seriously.

Yes he was a teenager when he made these posts but he still made them as an 18 year old so there is some accountability for his actions by that age we should know better but we don't I know at that age I probably used some language that I wouldn't use anymore when messing about with my mates.

As long as they are happy that he's learning from his mistakes then he should be allowed to continue but he has to serve some punishment there has to be a message that this sort of behaviour online even as a young person can have long term consequences for you.

I think it's ridiculous. He's being punished for a tweet he sent out 10 years ago. He's admitted fault said he's grown up and learned better.

I don't think it's ridiculous, they need to do something. Just had Gower on the radio, and 5 days later the ECB and some other body I don't remember don't know who's responsible for making the decision. That's the crazy thing, along with why didn't they know in the first place.

Send him out around clubs talking to kids about it and social media and move on.

It all depends on if he had a county contract when he tweeted it as to who deals with the disciplinary issue as he will be charged against the player conduct rules that applied to that contract if he had one if he didn't then it goes to a different panel.

Actions have consequences something everyone in life needs to learn and his age at the time needs to be considered when they decide the punishment he's admitted he did it, he regrets it and he now knows why it's wrong to behave that way so my guess is the punishment won't be to heavy.

He needs to be used as the message to young people that this sort of behaviour online can catch up to you

Derek Chauvin sentenced to 22.5 years in prison for the murder of George Floyd.

He is still appealing the decision.

Right now, that’s me fully served my temporary ban. Which, unlike my first one I don’t think had any justification to it.
If O-dog passes through maybe he could give me an O back with a view to gaining both back soon for good behaviour.
Anyhows, on to the topic. That man deserves to do time and plenty of it. He will have that time to reflect on how he deals with fellow human beings should he ever bring himself to recognise what a poor human being he had become.

Sadly once again following a big defeat our young black players are targetted online by trolls sadly for them it is almost inevitable and sadly the lack of backing they've had from government over taking the knee has enabled some peoples views to think it's ok to target them because of their race.

A Marcus Rashford mural in Manchester was also defaced by idiots.

As soon as those three missed I said to my wife they'd get abuse online.

I really don't get it.

Seriously what the hell is wrong people to go out of your way to deface a mural? Rashford has done so much for this country and is an absolute legend. Absolute oxygen thieves.

Gary Neville basically said the same on Sky Sports News this morning he said it's sad that we all know what is going to happen to these lads the moments they make any sort of mistake on a football pitch and it needs to stop.

I see one Tory MP has been exposed for making some sarky comment in a whats app group chat about Rashford after his miss in the shoot out.

They really don't see the way some of them responded to him over the school meals will have added fuel to the fire in his battle with racist trolls online.

Oh come on you cant blame the Government for this. Many people don't agree with taking the knee me included does that make us racists ?absolutely not. I have many black friends who don't agree with taking the knee are they to blame as well ? This country is amongst the most tolerant and diverse in the world. The trolls need identifying and dealt with by the law along with the social media platforms who allow this to go on

Where did he blame the government for the trolls?

He blamed the government for the thing they had to apologise for and their poor stance from the beginning of the tournament.

The footballers themselves clearly blame the Tory government though for encouraging people to boo them. And you don't get to tell them who they can blame because you've got a few black friends.

I didn't really want to reply to you but I think the bit above answers your question

1. Where has the Government encouraged people to boo them ?

2. Do you speak for the footballers do you know all their views ?

3. Don't patronise me

1. I'm sure you caught Priti in the media before the euros.

2. I'm sure you can see the view of above footballer whose seen his team mates get racially abused overnight.

3. I can totally see why someone doesn't like BLM. I don't either. In fact I think there's a lot wrong with them and would always argue against their views. But I think we've reached a point where we can seperate taking a knee and standing for equality. And the political movement of BLM. Anyone that can't seperate that just doesn't want to understand where these footballers are coming from. They laid it out clearly before the euros that this is just an anti racist message not a BLM political message. To boo that or think it's good to is just saying you don't think they deserve equality.

But then has Neville said this morning when you've got a leader that goes around calling Muslim women letterboxes there is a great problem in society.

"I don't even know where to start and I don't even know how to put into words how I am feeling at this exact time.

"I've had a difficult season, I think that's been clear for everyone to see and I probably went into that final with a lack of confidence. I've always backed myself for a penalty, but something didn't feel quite right.

"During the long run-up I was saving myself a bit of time and unfortunately the result was not what I wanted. I felt as though I had let my team-mates down. I felt as if I'd let everyone down. A penalty was all I'd been asked to contribute for the team. I can score penalties in my sleep, so why not that one?

"It's been playing in my head over and over since I struck the ball and there's probably not a word to quite describe how it feels. Final. 55 years. 1 penalty. History. All I can say is sorry. I wish it had of gone differently.

"Whilst I continue to say sorry I want to shout out my team-mates. This summer has been one of the best camps I've experienced and you've all played a role in that.

"A brotherhood has been built that is unbreakable. Your success is my success. Your failures are mine.

"I've grown into a sport where I expected to read things written about myself.

"Whether it be the colour of my skin, where I grew up, or, most recently, how I decide to spend my time off the pitch.

"I can take critique of my performance all day long, my penalty was not good enough, it should have gone in but I will never apologise for who I am and where I came from. I've felt no prouder moment than wearing those three lions on my chest and seeing my family cheer me on in a crowd of 10s of thousands.

"I dreamt of days like this. The messages I've received today have been positively overwhelming and seeing the response in Withington had me on the verge of tears. The communities that always wrapped their arms around me continue to hold me up.

"I'm Marcus Rashford, 23-year-old black man from Withington and Wythenshawe, South Manchester. If I have nothing else I have that. For all the kind messages thank you. I'll be back stronger. We'll be back stronger."

Was just about to post this in the Rashford thread.

It was too much bringing him on for one minute.

Top lad. And he'll bounce back.

Ask anyone from a minority if they believe that? We may be diverse but there's huge chunks of our population who are not tolerant we are far from the worst but we are also far from perfect which is what we need to be aiming towards. Sadly we are becoming a more and more divided nation on many topics.

Being against the knee is fine that is your choice just ignore it let it happen and then crack on with watching the game. But booing it as people were doing suggests you are totally against the message it represents, which is one of inclusion and unity among people from different backgrounds taking a stand against racism in society which we all know exists. Those who boo taking the knee to me are basically saying they don't agree with this message to me that is basically supporting racism.

The government at the start of the euro's refused to support the players on this issue instead defending the rights of those who chose to boo them which encourages them to continue. Now they want to say they support the players because they've been successful and the country love them which seems to be how this lot operate they jump on the side of popularity.

It's a different topic but there's strong suggestions Johnson signed off on the european super league before it was announced and then went back on it when he saw how the public reacted. Just like the football team now they're the nations darlings suddenly they want to associate themselves with them so are back tracking on things they said previously they want to try and play both sides of the debate.

I would say I don't think people booing the knee are genuinely racist. I think people booing the knee are booing the BLM political movement and struggle to seperate the taking the knee as stand for equality and taking the knee in support of BLM.

They became entangled at one point and haven't fully seperated since in many eyes But when Kaepernick started the knee it was all about equality not everything else BLM the political movement brought with it.

BLM the political movement is getting what it wanted and causing more division. Whilst there are a few people who probably disagree with equality I don't believe it's anywhere near the numbers you have booing. It's got to be because they associate it with BLM.

I think people who boo the knee are ignorant, either they are ignorant racists, or ignorant of what the footballers are trying to do.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of ignorance.

The issue for me is despite being told the taking the knee has nothing to do with the BLM political movement these people still boo.

They were told by the players, the managers, the FA and everyone in and around football that taking the knee is not about the BLM political objectives yet they still boo. So my conclusion for those who still boo is that they strongly oppose the anti racism message the players are trying to promote.

But regardless of if the players are saying it these people watched our police and many others take the knee at the BLM rallies before understanding the political undertones behind it.

Then suddenly people start distancing themselves from the political side of it but kept the very same stance that was so strongly aligned with the BLM rallies. So that link is already made and can't be broken in their minds. When people think of taking the knee now they don't think it CK they think of the BLM rallies.

I was talking to someone yesterday who I know isn't a racist but who as told me he'd boo too the taking of the knee and that was his rationale anyway.

Thing is as you said the original taking of the knee wasn't a BLM thing it's something they adopted and have ran with.

The thing is if they're not willing to break that link in their own minds what chance do we really have as society?

Tbf I said last year if you start linking the fight to equality with BLM you're going to cause more segregation not less. It was obvious for all to see this was going to happen.

One thing that also needs to stop is the spread of false news. One of the most shared things on Instagram yesterday was a post regarding 13 black people being stabbed to death, one thrown in the Thames and one thrown in front of the train by England fans after the game. To the point the Met Police had to come out and state that none of this has actually happened. This group's say they're helping but fake post like that just hype up the divide. Even after being called out that it was fake news they wouldn't take the post down and said it could have happened so they'll keep it up. How are we thinking this is the way to run the country and how can't we see these organisations are wanting to cause divide and they aren't helping in the fight for equality like they say they wish to?

I back the players right to take the knee. Now I have seperated what they're doing from the BLM stance. But can understand why people struggle to seperate it. Perhaps we do need to think of a different way of getting the message across as this obviously isn't working. Maybe a break in play at a certain minute with words on the screen. I'm not sure what you can do but we need to start getting people on the same page regarding the fight for equality. There are a lot more intelligent minds out there than mine and I'm sure something can be done.

Perhaps you could just get to the point where they refuse to play if you boo them taking the knee? If you aren't treating them as equals they aren't going to entertain you? But how far can you go and would it stop them?

The Instagram stuff I don't think you can solve. That's a worldwide problem and it's anonymous. Until the platform makes you validate your account you aren't stopping it.

I can only assume the players will continue with taking the knee next season but some clubs have already stopped doing it as they feel it's become nothing more than tokenism and maybe it has to a degree become part of the pre game ritual, I don't even notice it anymore.

That fake news stuff is pretty horrific spreading those sort of lies aren't going to help anyone on either side it just fuels the conspiracy theories that people become obssessed with about a potential cover up.

I think all you can do with the social media stuff is actually put a bit of extra money behind the funding to investigate it and look to catch more and more people as a detterant, while also trying to put pressure on the social media companies to get better at responding.

For example I think it's ridiculous that the monkey emoji is still available for use on social media platforms I know it was never intended for that purpose but it's certainly been hijacked to the point where it needs to be withdrawn.

I'm gonna assume because you don't often use Twitter and Instagram? As it's been all over my feeds. Mainly shared by women that hate the game and a quick Google yesterday showed that they were false.

I don't want to post them but look at the Ukisntinnocent tagged photos. They have now removed the original from their page or had it removed. I know I reported it as fake news so if many others did they may have had it taken down. But it was liked 400k times and shared however many times more and is on their tagged photos.

I did just see an Instagram analysis that says over 50% of the racial insults came from 6 countries

India
UAE
Egypt
Iran
Saudi Arabia
Pakistan

4% being generated in the UK.

It's only a picture on WhatsApp I've seen at the moment though so have asked for a source.

I did hear the insults were coming from overseas.

I don't have or use Twitter, I have Instagram but only about 5 followers as I've never posted on it. I follow United players and few golfers and tennis players
