I'm going to use Anderson merely as an example to accompany Sneijder in the scenario were are to sign him.

De Gea

Fabio Vidic Ferdinand Evra

Valencia Sneijder Anderson Nani

Rooney Hernandez
Alternating with;
De Gea

Fabio Vidic Ferdinand Evra

Anderson

Valencia Sneijder Rooney Nani

Hernandez

United will just sign the player easier to sign."
If Sneijder was easier to sign wouldn't we have signed him by now?

That's assuming we're interested in the player in the first place, so he must be not easier to sign.

The formations are okay for home fixtures.

Scoreboard_red you mention Sneijder playing in the same role of Scholes of ten years ago. The problem is, we don't have a Roy Keane type player to play alongside Sneijder, Fletcher is the closest we have. Work rate is an important factor in 442. In that team Keane and Beckham had great engines and Scholes and Giggs were not shy in getting around the pitch.

An example from last season is Arsenal away and Chelsea at home. Compare the work rate of the two midfields and the difference in performances.

Arsenal - Park, Anderson, Carrick, Nani
Chelsea - Park, Giggs, Carrick, Valencia

You'd expect Park, Giggs and Valencia to put in a shift.

Does Sneijder have the work rate to play in a 442 for away games?

If Scholes ageing legs could play with Fletcher/Carrick then Sneijder definitely could.

Park and Valencia will be needed to accommodate Sneijder in a 442 in away games. The only way I can see him fitting him unless Fergie changes his formation.

Not really, that guy who is reliable said we only put a bid in for him last week. If reports are to be believed we've also got a bid in for Nasri which was placed last week. Both clubs are probably waiting for all interested parties to make their move. They're not gonna sell them to us now when in a few weeks another club could come in with a bigger offer.

That doesn't mean we want both, we're just not concentrating solely on one player.

Sneijder worked really hard in the WC final last summer when Holland played more defensively and that required him to work hard.

Internazionale have received two bids for Wesley Sneijder: Málaga CF (€35M) and Man Utd (€39M). (La Gazzetta dello Sport).

Lamela firma oggi, Britos è del Napoli - La Gazzetta dello Sport

Don't make too much out of this, La Gazzetta Dello Sport is like the Italian version of The Sun.
If that's true then Sneijder would probably be more likely to come to us than Malaga obviously, it's a no brainer.

I know i keep banging on about it but i feel Sneijder's wages and transfer fee will probably put us off. If we get him i'll be astonished.

In a 433 with De Jong and Van Bommel behind him. If Sneijder isn't prepared to put in the effort in a world cup final he never will. A Keane type midfielder is the perfect foil for Sneijder. Sneijder would be perfect if we had Keano.

I mean Sneijder would obviously be the type of player that we'd be looking for after getting outclassed again by Barca.

No two ways about it.

Talksport are now apparently saying we're a 'dead cert' to sign Sneijder.

Oh and also rumours going around United sites that we've booked a medical for him! Here we go!!

Rooney is rumoured to be on about that much. According to some, with recent retirments and sales, we've reduced the wage bill by about 300k a week already. Gibson and Kuszczak likely to leave as well. Perhaps we're freeing up the wage bill for Sneijder.

The only thing that pisses me off is that we could have got him as part of the Ronaldo deal and now we're paying £30-35m for him.

Possibly.

The Sneijder rumour is gathering pace- dunno if that's a good thing or bad thing! Same thing happened with Ozil last season and we all know what happened there!

Ozil wanted a move to Real. If Sneijder wants a move to United there is a good chance we will sign him.

It's definitely a good thing. His wage package obviously isn't ideal but that's the way football is going - to get the best you have to pay top dollar. If we are going to start complaining about wages then we should also bring up that ashley young is reportedly getting 120k a week, now that's just ridiculous.

On the point above about playing sneijder in the away games I see your point but I feel that with sneijder in our midfield we would keep the ball an awful lot more and so wouldn't have to work as hard as we did this season in away games when we couldn't seem to control games as much as we used to

You're probably right. If we start haggling we might lost the player completely.

Still barmy wages though.

Indeed, i've not got a problem if we're willing to offer him the money he wants. If he plays to his standard we'll make that money back in prize money.

Another deadball specialist if we do sign him, he's got 2 good feet too.

I dont care what he costs he's perfect for us it baffles me why we didnt bid for him when he left Madrid.

That is the only thing that annoys me. How much did Inter get him for? 15m euros weren't it? It would have been worth getting less money for Cristiano if it meant getting Sneijder.

I couldn't care less what he earns, if isn't my money and if he produces the goods, then it's money well spent
I think you've missed my point slightly- i'm refering to the amount of money that players can now command (not so much Sneijder in particular).

I know what you're saying but a quarter of a million quid a week is crazy money in anybody's language. If Sneijder's advisors can get it for him they can get it for him.

Just my fifty cents (bad pun!) lol.

Well people have always said things like this; we could have signed Andy Cole from Bristol for £500k rather than £6m eighteen months later, we could've signed Berbatov for £7m from Bayer rather than £30m a few years later.
Basically, United have players at the time they feel can do the job and in reality, some do slip through the net like Sneijder. I would've liked to have seen him at United a couple of seasons ago too as I've said Scholes has been past it for years, but I think if he came to us now at 27 we'd be getting a vastly experienced player with tremendous ability.

Im guessing Vanity Fair picked up on the quotes a couple of weeks ago.

Sneijder wants to stay?

Does anybody else have a horrible feeling that our spending is done for the summer and we're not going to be bringing in another midfielder? Shite!!!
