Manchester United striker Robin van Persie reported to be out for month with ankle injury | Football News | Sky Sports

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is today expected respond to reports Robin van Persie will be out for a month with an ankle injury.

Several national newspapers have reported that the striker will miss around a month of first-team action after injuring his ankle ligaments at Swansea City.

Van Persie left the Liberty Stadium on crutches and with his right foot in a protective boot after an awkward fall in the closing stages of the 2-1 loss.

Because United had used all three of their substitutes, van Persie was forced to finish the match.

Van Gaal will clarify the situation at his press conference on Friday, to preview his side’s home game against Sunderland but could be without the striker for several key games.

As well as the Sunderland game, van Persie could also miss the FA Cup quarter-final against his former club Arsenal, a home game against Tottenham and the trip to Anfield to play Liverpool.

I don't like to say but the injury could be a blessing in disguise if it means Rooney plays as a striker. One last chance for Falcao too, you'd think, although hopefully not at the expense of Rooney.

Van Gaal: "He [Robin] is the only injured player. He has an ankle injury. We have to wait and see how long that shall take."
