Manchester United Under-21s entertain Southampton - Official Manchester United Website

Manchester United's Under-21s face Southampton at Leigh Sports Village on Bank Holiday Monday, a key day in the race for the title.

Warren Joyce's men are top of the table, two points clear of Liverpool, but Chelsea and Manchester City both have two fixtures in hand. Chelsea are a particular threat because they will overtake the Reds if they win those games. Liverpool entertain Leicester City on Monday, while Manchester City tackle Tottenham.

United must focus on a run-in that includes two Manchester derbies after the clash with ninth-placed Saints, who won the corresponding fixture 1-0 with a late strike by Ryan Seager.

Robin van Persie scored twice at Fulham last time out but is unlikely to feature again after returning to Louis van Gaal's starting XI against West Brom. However, the Reds have tended to field strong line-ups at Reserves level of late. Joe Rothwell, who also netted a brace at Craven Cottage, looks certain to keep his place but there could be the option of involving several players who have returned from loan now the Football League season has ended.

The game kicks off at 19:00 BST and is live on MUTV, with build-up and commentary from 18:30 BST.
