Was today's performance a one off or did the performance highlight United's frailties?

Dreadful start which worryingly is becoming a regular thing. Van Gaal got it wrong playing Carrick and Schweinsteiger against the more mobile Arsenal and maybe should have stuck with Valencia at RB given he did quite well against Sanchez last season. I probably wouldn't have made either of those calls before the game though so "hindsight is a wonderful thing". The switch to 4-3-3 seemed to help, and we may see that now after international break and in other big/away games. Defence an issue clearly, Blind at CB working well against the lesser sides but exposed greatly today and against other better sides.

Positive(s): Martial again playing football beyond his years despite being 3 down. Smalling maybe too. Oh and Wilson getting a game.

Its no real surprise tbh. We all know the score when we go to arsenal. The first twenty minutes are vital. If you hold them for the first 20 mins you are in with a good chance but you can also be out of the game. We need some pace in the team. Wr have to look at blind and rooney and stop seeing them as automatic choices. That said we have left ourselves short of options.

Winger at left back
Depay
Carrick
Schweinsteiger chasing too far up
Rooney doing nothing
For Mata to be effective we need to be in control of the ball
