English player values are inflated because of the home grown quotas and our teams being 20 of the 30 richest clubs in the world so we all just rip each other off.

I’ve never really understood people’s issue with foreign players.

It’s our lads who should be being more adventurous and test themselves in foreign leagues not moan about foreign players coming here.

What is the gauge to say if a player is low quality or not?

Points system but it’s not exactly clear how it will work.

Will be similar to the system used to judge players not currently born in EU. Under new visa rules anyone from outside the UK will need a visa so even Irish players will need to qualify. Will this lead to more players declaring for the north to get access to the PL?

Suggestion is points will be based on playing time and weighted on strength of league.

Will be harder to sign young players under this system hence why Utd stocked up this summer.

If they get this wrong, be prepared for a drop in the quality of the epl.

In general I can't remember anything competitive ever getting better by introducing less competition.

The concept of lower quality foreign players keeping UK players from playing is an odd concept, wouldn't this suggest the UK players are lower quality than the foreign players anyway?

Quality is a very subjective concept, but in essence in its simplest form it is a bar, with the important thing to consider being what the bar represents; say for example the bar represents level of football being played: is this new system going raise the bar or lower it?

What does everyone think 'Quality' means in this case, and do you think it'll go up, or down in relation to the proposed changes? Being a fuzzy qualifier it'd be interesting to know if there is concensus or discord of what constitutes quality.

Not sure it will impact prem sides to much signing first team players but will stop them filling academies with foreign talent at 16.

Will likely stop clubs in championship and below buying any foreign players

the kind of thing that would have stopped Salah coming?

Not sure @Mr C Salah was already playing in Switzerland for Basel and also in the Champions League with them when he came to Chelsea and was an international player for Egypt.

In theory it will stop the kind of signings from Europe that you currently can't make from outside Europe so for example English clubs could never pick up the next Messi straight from South America or even Alfonso Davies from North America because we'd never get them work permits. Whereas Barca/Bayern were able to get them permits to live and work in Spain/Germany respectively under their countries specific immigration policy. The EU wasn't a one size fits all policy for people from outside the EU after all.
