Premier League: Spurs vs Manchester United (Friday June 19th)

I’d have taken Fred off. Think he’s been our worse player and back to his side ways self of last season.
 
Also fairly sure Martial spent the first half having an early Friday night.
 
Are we allowed to make all 5 subs at half time?

Matic, Pogba, Greenwood, Ighalo on

Pogba definitely needs to be on. We need extra creativity. I really don't think dan James should be a starter. He should come on against tired legs later in the game.
 
Would be very surprised if Pogba isn’t on at half time or very early in the second half. Greenwood for James is an absolute must.

Pogba’s warm up suggests he’ll be on at half time.
 
The idea of Pogba not starting was laughable. Poor from Ole. He’s our best player if he’s fit he starts.
 
Worst thing about the penalty being overturned is we lose the attack
 
Such an annoying game. We win that comfortably if Pogba started. So much better when he came on.

Probably for the long term good. Pogba needs to be managed and not become the sulking brooding atmosphere destroying character of the past.
He needs to know he has to earn his stripes and work for the good of the club.
He showed enough tonight to earn his starting place fro the next game and it is up to him to keep it.
 
It’s like saying Cristiano or Rooney needed to earn their place. It’s rubbish. It’s cutting your nose to spite your face. Today just highlighted the difference in quality between Fred/McT and Pogba. He’s levels above. They have good games but they can’t be relied on to produce.

Tbf to them both probably both of their worst games of the season. But starting a fresh why gamble?
 
I am pretty disappointed with that. Spurs played exactly how anyone would have predicted, yet we didn't seem to have a plan for it.

Some things that became abundantly clear during this match, in no particular order:
• Dan James is not ready. He's not good enough to start.
• Williams should have started over Shaw. We had no threat going forward on the left. Shaw did not face a great deal of threat down his flank, as could have easily been predicted, and so Williams should have gotten in ahead of him.
• AWB had one of his worst games for us. No threat from him. Even his defending was below his high standards.
• Fred is a terrible player. I've never been a fan and today he was either in the wrong place, or when he'd get the ball he'd choose the wrong option, or if he chose the right option he'd play the ball behind them instead of in front. In any combination of our midfielders Fred is last choice for me.
• Maguire was absolutely shit for their goal. Garbage defending.
• Bruno and Pogba will work. The minute Pogba came on, Spurs reacted and backed off him.
 
It's easy to say that with a short memory but Pogba was part of the problem that saw us playing diabolical football over a couple of seasons.
He was like exactly what JM called him, a virus who seemed to think he and his agent could run the club.
The dark side of Pogba needs managing.

Managing it needlessly cost us two points based on the performance of Pogba compared to Fred and McT
 
They need to sack of drinks breaks if it’s 25 degrees fair enough but when it’s a mild evening game no point just breaks up the game.

Thought we were the better side for almost the whole game gave away a cheap goal de Gea needs to sort these mistakes out but we got ourselves back in it but didn’t do enough to win it.

Team looked rusty tough first game hopefully get a bit more going in the next game but today the passing was to slow until Pogba & Greenwood came on

Hindsight is wonderful, you wouldnt know what would have happened if Pogba started, he had a point to prove.
