My guess is we will see a few changes for this one with the quick turn around as AWB seemed to be struggling too.

My guess would be but can easily see Lingard starting possible in place of Periera, McTominay will be a loss but think he’s had a few tough games recently certainly not been at his best.

DDG

Young Lindelof Maguire Williams

Pogba Fred

James Periera Rashford

Martial

We know what to expect it’ll be 4-4-2 in your face tactics hitting the big man and playing for the second ball and capitalise on set pieces.

Utd away woes could and probably will continue not been many convincing performances on the road this season.

Doesn't look like pogba's even travelled would ov liked to of seen Greenwood start, let's see how we set up.

We should have enough up front if we can create opportunities ,shaw and awb both on the bench seems strange if not fit to start why be on the bench I'm never a fan of that I understand if you're coming back from an injury and not ready for a start but if injured why be a sub

Suppose after so long out you are susceptible to a little pull so maybe just that.

1-0 at half time with Martial scoring. Missed the first half but will catch the 2nd now.

We’ve played alright. Created a few chances should definitely be a couple more up. Lovely ball from Periera for the goal.

2-0 win and finally a clean sheet. Rashford with the second with a interesting finish. Up to 5th now.

Yep. Definitely feeling Williams over Shaw now. For a long time I thought Shaw must have been instructed to pull up after crossing the halfway line, but Williams seems to have no qualms about continuing on, so maybe it was just Shaw. I like how we play with Williams better than with Shaw.

Williams was a great outlet down that left hand side and gave us an extra attacking threat. His defensive work was also spot on tonight. Impressive performance no doubt.

We won’t see Rich and TheChosenJuan until the new year. And that’s what annoys me. Participate after wins as well as just coming in to criticise.

Solid performance haven’t seen that sort of routine away win in a long time.

Battled hard against the dirtiest team in the league stood up the fight and even dished it back out ruthlessly punished a mistake and didn’t give them an easy chance.

De Gea was there when we needed him made a good save from Bardsley and didn’t let the bombardment in the air bother him.

Thought Matic did well coming in cold to that sort of game along with Fred they protected the defence well.

Yes the team is still flaky and a bit flimsy but 12 months ago we were a team that was often out worked that doesn’t really happen now yes they are limited and inconsistent but they don’t let the opponent outwork them anymore which is back to basics but it needed to happen.

As for Pogba’s absence sounds like the club felt 2 games in 48 hours was to much for someone who’s just come back my guess is they want him to start vs Arsenal so didn’t want to take a risk.

Yeah it's good to see them working hard together I'm sure they must have worked hard with the fitness coaches in the summer teams aren't out running us anymore. They actually looked knackered after most games can't complain when you see that at the end of games. It should be the bare minimum to expect of any football but at times especially towards the end of last season I just wasn't seeing that, keep at it boys.

Think some of it is younger, fresher players it was hard to press from the front with players like Lukaku, Sanchez, Mata, Fellaini and Matic in your team regularly and to some extent Pogba as well we just didn’t push up the pitch enough and put teams under pressure we let them play out to easily at times. We still do this sometimes away from home but yesterday we pushed them back and also made sure that when they went direct we compete for the first ball but also the second ball.

I think Fred has been important to that he’s now starting to dominate the midfield at times which he never did before, full backs tend to be pushing higher as well which forces opponents back.

A Mourinho team can look lazy because they tend to naturally sit off and try to counter what you aware doing this Utd side are different they seem to want to get in the face of the opponent and unsettle them yeah we are still a bit clueless going forward but defensively as a team I think we are much better but still room for improvements.

Set pieces are a huge bug bare for me at both ends. Utd have not scored directly from a free kick in 2019 and our delivery on corners/free kicks or horrible I do think part of the recruitment needs to be a player who is a set piece specialist. These are easy goals the team is missing because no one can put in a decent ball. The. Flip side of that defensively De Gea needs to rebuild his confidence and at least deal with the 6 yard box and the team needs to be fully switched on at set pieces very few teams have worse records defending set pieces than us.

I agree with the set pieces point. Utterly ridiculous. But Rashford against Chelsea was in 2019.

My bad missed the bit about it being league only.

2019 league only stat highlights
Free kick goals 0
Lingard goals 0
Lingard assists 0

Glad to be leaving 2019 behind we’ve seen City do the domestic treble and Liverpool win another European cup but 2020 seems to be bringing a new even darker day to us. The way it’s going Liverpool win the league and City will win the European cup.

Yes liverpool are running away with the league I think some teams are actually beaten before they walk out on to the pitch, that reminds me of us back in the sir Alex's era there now the benchmark as for city can't see them winning the champions league they don't look to convincing to me this season. As for our corners I'm really surprised Maguire hasn't really got on the end of a few we definitely need to work on them but all in all I'm confident where going the right way an other good transfer window is what we need but as for who is anyone's guess, who would you like to see?

Yes they’re smashing it but i do think the league is quite poor this season overall but they have been ridiculous so far especially in big games against the smaller sides they’ve often just ended games but they remind me so much of our 07-08 side. Rock solid at the back with a front 3 that can take you apart on their own or by working together.

Maguire has has had a few chances that he hasn’t taken but so often the ball in just isn’t good enough and teams will always put their best defender on Maguire and try to block him off. None of our players really seem to attack the ball with much aggression.

In terms of signings I don’t watch much outside of prem but haven’t seen to many players outside the big clubs who stand out. As a striker option maybe someone like Ings or even Pukki just an aggressive hard running type who wants to score scruffy goals.

Ings and pukki really?no way would they make are bench would rather no signings then them sorry to disagree buts that's why we love football, its about opinions

My point is if the club are backing Martial as the number 1 you need to find a guy who’s happy enough being the number 2 but is good enough that if you put them in they aren’t a total disaster.

You can’t really buy £50-60m strikers and bench them on £150-200k a week so was just chucking a few names out there of players you might be able to get to do that role.

Personally I don’t have much faith in Martial becoming a great number 9 but the club do so I think they need to find someone who can a) put pressure on him and b) cover for him when he’s not available.

Ings has been one of the players of the season and would easily make our bench.

14 in 22 this season in a very poor side.

Yeah if it wasn’t for the injuries he’d still be at Liverpool had a real rotten run with them.

Think he’s an outside bet for the Euro squad if he stays fit because Callum Wilson has stopped scoring.

Ings and Pukki are doing remarkably well in "lesser" teams but don't really offer any new tactics with their style of play. Pukki is very direct and slippery, reminds me of Vardy, Ings is more of link player, but I doubt either would trade in January being the main man to being the bench warmer, even at United. At the end of the season when Norwich is looking at the drop, that will be a different story. I wasn't excited about the prospect of signing Mandzukic but he at least presents a Plan B, a different type of play, than what we had.

I also don't see Ole being interested in having 4 fit strikers in regular rotation. Martial is on a hot streak, he and Rashford finally understanding each other, and Greenwood is really developing. I do agree we need a 4th option in case any of those 3 get injured, but it will probably be an older player who is a "impact" sub.
