@Red Warrior

I gave up on radio years ago mostly listen to podcasts now as I have a similar commute and most of them are 1 hour.

If you go on to itunes or whichever supplier you use you can normally search football related podcasts.

The ones I listen to regularly are

General football

Guardian Football Weekly
The Game (The Times Podcast)
Football Ramble
The Totally Football Show

Most of these do 2 shows a week a monday weekend review show and a thursday weekend preview show.

Man Utd specific ones.

United We Stand
United Rant
Red Voices

Most of these are weekly shows

European Football Ones

On the Continent ~ It's presented by 2 of the guys from the football ramble plus 2 guest pundits and they discuss all the European football on a weekly basis.

5 live also have a few

Football daily ~ The monday night club is well worth a listen probably the best radio show around presented by Mark Chapman.
Sports Specials ~ Normally one hour specials covering all sports I only listen to the cricket and boxing ones but there's regular athletics, cycling, tennis ones so you can just pick and choose.
World Football Phone In ~ If you like phone ins this one is fantastic it features Tim Vickery who is a south american expert then they normally have 1 other guest who covers either Europe, Africa, Asia or North America so if you're interested in what's going on all over the world it's well worth a listen.

The best thing I'd say is download a few and see what you like podcasting is huge now.

Podcasting is definitely the way to go.

I listen to a few that JSP listens to. On The Continent, The Football Ramble, United We Stand, United Rant/Rant Cast I think it's called now, Football Weekly, The Game. All worth your time.

The Sky Sports Football Podcast wraps up the weeksn football but only 15 mins long. Also does the Gary Neville summary and Sunday Suplment.

There also The Football Writers Podcast. The Big Interview with Graham Hunter. Also highly recommendd Quickly Kevin; Will he score. The 90's football Show.

Aside from Football. Inside The Huddle is a great NFL podcast.

forgive my tecnho stupidity. Can I listen to these on my phone direct, or do I download them or what? If both options are available would the same amount of 4g be used for both? Because I have no idea about phones etc 4g is no problem for me, I took out a deal for 80 gig a month of which I only use about 2.

Download the app Acast - And then use that to stream podcast.

Would assume it uses the same amount of data either way but it's relatively small files.

nice one guys, I'll give them a blast and see what they are like. Gotta be better than Radio 1 and Gem FM lol.

I've been listening to podcast which have been good but I've recently been listening to 'The United Stand' and 'The People's Person' on Youtube on my way home which I really like. I just stream it from my phone whilst driving. United Stand seem to do a 20/25 min videos at least once a day and it's all good debating points. Defo worth a listen.

That United Stand is the worst it's that div from twitter Mark something isn't it?

He decided to become a Utd fan and launch a youtube channel and is a right arse on twitter.

Listened to him for about 30 seconds once and couldn't handle the cringe see him pop up on twitter every now and again last thing I remember seeing was him bragging that he'll only go and watch Utd on a corporate day out once a season because that's how he prefers the game.

I have been listening to West Cork on Audible. It’s very much like the serial podcast style.

I will need to give these a go. I never really understood the term Podcast until reading this.

First few seasons of Peter Crouch are very good but it's tailing off a bit just struggling to come up with fresh material I think.

yeah, I've listened to a few, not that great to be honest. It sounds like they think they're great.

I read rank Skinner has a podcast, which is his radio show with all the music removed or something, that's meant to be good.

@IDFD I know you're a Jim Jeffries fan have you heard his new podcast I don't know about that?

I've tried to move away from the sports based ones during lockdown they've just became repetitive with no football and nostalgia driven.

I'd give the official Man Utd one a go it's obviously a bit one sided being official club output but they get some great guests and to be fair they don't pull many punches. They have a good mix of current and ex players and they're normally pretty open about most things.

The recent one with Lee Sharpe was very good he didn't hide the fact he didn't really get on with Fergie

doesn't surprise me that, his attitude wasn't the best, not surprised they didn't get on. He's a player I think could have been much better if he applied himself more.

Just a personality clash really and Sharpe basically doesn't think he was treated fairly by the manager always felt he was second choice even when he was in the team and playing well he was always the first man to get dropped or subbed. His issue was Giggs emerged in his position and while he could play left back we had Irwin at left back so it was very hard for him to get into the team.

He basically makes out that he always felt he was the fall guy when anything went wrong but he loved his time at the club and doesn't really hold a grudge but you can tell he's never repaired that relationship with Fergie.

Didn’t know about the Jim Jeffries podcast. Thanks for the heads up. Have added it to my list!

I think you’ve probably recommended most the podcast I listen to with the exception of American Football.

If anyone does to American Football the CBS Fantasy Football today is a great show.

I can’t find it on acast anymore but the Nico Rosberg beyond victory podcast are good. He interviews big sports personalities

Riciardo interview is a good listen. Xabi Alonso is in there. Domenicali Former Head of Ferrari. The Hugo Boss CEO and Michael Douglas.

My partner highly recommends ‘my dad wrote a porno’. I’ve not got round to listening yet but got great reviews.

Right guys, bring me up to speed. Where are these podcasts? how do I get them? and recommend some that non football ones.

Download the app Acast. Then search there for what you like.

As above the Nico Rosberg one is fantastic.

My iPhone had a preloaded Podcast app. What about that?
Are the podcasts free?
Im not a fan of motor racing

Yeah most are free some require a subscription but 99% are free.

Open the podcast app go on search find what you want then hit download or subscribe if you subscribe new episodes download automatically.

So will the podcast app do the same thing as the app @IDFD recommended? or do the different apps give different podcasts?

Think acast has more podcasts as not everyone is on apple podcast but the vast majority are.

I’ve always used the apple one

Nah. I use the iPhone just prefer Acast interface and their subscriptions system.

How you getting on with podcasts @Shoot?

Just a heads up the official Man Utd podcast which is actually very good has Bruno Fernandes on next, last episode was Brandon Williams.

Just caught up on an old one with Forlan.

Considering it's from the official club source they are actually very good.

I haven't really got too heavily into them. I found them handy when I was driving to/from Scotland last month, listening to a couple of Peter Crouch, one with Prince William and have since listened to a couple of Stretford Paddock. I have just downloaded the UNT Podcast with Bruno to give a listen to later. (thanks for the heads up)
I think they are just a bit like listening to TalkSport with the advantage of being able to listen anytime. Think I need to find a couple of non sport ones?

I'd give different things a go whatever you have interests in there's a podcast for it.

I was a big fan of the TV show Scrubs and the stars of the show have done their own podcast based around the show which I've found quite cool because the two of them became best friends during the show chemistry that really came across on screen. For those interested it's called "fake doctors real friends"

I got big plans to become a Munro bagger from next year with all 282 Munro's my target. Hopefully from around March I can bag around 20 of them next year.
I have found a podcast called Goosmountains which has an episode solely for Scottish Munro Bagging but noticed it's only 16 minutes long. Hopefully I will find some more.

Latest official United one is with Wayne Rooney.

Yes, and apparently he has brought one argument to an end. Many have said he did not ask to leave the club but he has admitted he did. He also says he was out of order and expresses regret for the impact it had on his relationship with Fergie.
I am going to subscribe to the official united podcast, think it will be a good listen.
