Lads, it’s starting to get desperate.

Is Nicolas Anelka still playing, he’s good for a January move?

Absolutely desperate now if some of the names mentioned are true, they may aswell ask sparky to help out or recall Sanchez

That said, we're a club that bought a worn out broken down and busted Scouse legend (Owen) once upon a time, so there are no names out there that would truly surprise. Seeing Rooney and Tevez mentioned mean someone's in an office pool bet about who can come up with the most ridiculous name.

I don't like Owen, but he did score a last minute winner in the derby, so he was worth it just for that.

I’d like to see how the Liverpool fans would react to him being called a scouse legend. They can’t stand him.

Fair enough. I don't really care what Liverpool fans think. I thought he was a legend for them right up until he left, but if they hate him, that's good enough for me.

I loved that goal he scored in the 6th minute of stoppage time against City, but that is the only decent thing he did in a United shirt that I can remember.

Word is Utd put the message out to agents to bring them options for short term deals this is where these random names came from.

Utd looked into Cavani but high wages plus PSG demanding a fee put them off.

Most of the names that came back were not of interest but a few suggesting Utd are still working on something.

Adebayor on a free? 35 now but hey needs must.

Think we should be all over Dries Mertens, apparently available for a small fee as his contract ends at the end of the season. Again in his 30’s but as a back up it would be worth a punt. Seems like Chelsea are after him though.

Wages are probably the issue with Mertens bit like Sanchez you might save on transfer fee but my guess is he's asking for silly wages which Utd are probably trying to avoid these days because if it doesn't work out you are stuck.

For me this one would have all the alarm bells on it that the Sanchez deal did for me he looks like a player who's probably gone past his prime.

If he's up for taking sensible wages then he's 100% someone they should be looking at as long as they're happy that he isn't on his way down.

Jimenez would be great but no chance Wolves would even entertain letting him go.

Always rated King so think he would have been a good signing but not surprised Bournemouth want to keep him. Willian Jose seems like a non-starter - ultimately I think we will be left empty handed in our striker search. 15 hours or so to go before the window slams shut.

There's loads of clubs chasing strikers in this window you've got Barcelona, Utd, Chelsea & Spurs all apparently after that illusive backup striker because their man guys have all got injured so it's a competitive market. Ole seems like he wants someone he obviously lost a striker in the summer and didn't get a replacement so you'd hope Utd had prepared some plans but there's not many out on the market at the moment. We obviously went in for Haaland and didn't get him so Utd are clearly in the market for a striker.

Was it Rondon we were linked to yesterday currently out in China where football has been suspended due to coronavirus.

It's highly unlikely you'll get someone off another prem club in this window as they'll be desperate to keep hold of their players to serve whatever purpose they're fighting for so unless their contracts are up in the summer you can forget it.

I think it'll be a day where a lot of names are chucked around but I don't expect anything to happen getting another striker in would be huge I don't think Greenwood is ready to go central yet and you need someone who can come off the bench and score the ugly goals.

More from the Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe on Joshua King:

"We have missed him since he has been out injured, so speaking as manager I would be very reluctant to let him leave. With a day to go in the window it's very difficult to find a replacement.

"It's going to be [a decision] between the chief executive and owner. I love Josh as a player and person. I know what Manchester United means to him with his history with the club, so I understand his position."

Sounds like there's something going on.

Ole bringing in one of his own probably had him in the youth team.

yeah I was just about to post this, rumour united going to back with another bid, and Howe making it sound like King wants to come.

Be a hard move to turn down Bournemouth look like they're a sinking ship to be honest.

He'd be a handy squad player so guess it depends on the numbers.

He knows the league and knows the club so shouldn't take long to settle in and he's flexible can play wide or through the middle so he'd certainly give us more options off the bench.

I'd rather take Slimani. King has been having a poor season. Didn't get the Norwegian striker we wanted so going for one we used to have. 3 in 17 for the season. At least in Slimani it's a striker who isn't lacking confidence.

Slimani didn't settle in England though and will he be happy playing a squad role and he isn't versatile I imagine there's also complications with the deal as he's still a Leicester player on loan so they might be reluctant to sell to another PL team.

King isn't the first choice hell he's probably not even the 3rd choice but it's 4am the dance floor is emptying and Utd need someone to shack up with for the night so beggers can't be choosers.

Is King the answer for the next 6 years no he isn't but is he someone who can help us for 6 months yes he is.

From the reporting on twitter doesn't sound like it will happen anyway as Bournemouth don't want to sell a goal scorer with the club fighting relegation.

Seems like Ole has just seemingly ruled out any more business so sounds like any potential moves for strikers haven’t panned out. It wasn’t completely ruled out but doubt anything will happen now.

May have to look into the U23’s again and maybe promote Ramazani or Mellor into the first team frame.

I think the youth team setup is tapped don't think any of them look any more ready than Gomes and Chong as we know they are struggling to step up.

Just need the existing guys to stay healthy and do more really and take responsibility Mata, Lingard, Periera plus Bruno and Pogba when he's back need to fill the void left by Rashford. Bruno apparently is a bit of a set piece specialist so lets try and get a few from the defenders on corners everyone has to chip in.

After tomorrow we've got 2 weeks off to rest so hopefully everyone will come back fresh and ready for a final push a few of them look like they need the rest and a bit of time on the training pitch might help work on some of the issues.

Obviously if Martial gets injured we're a bit screwed as we don't have a centre forward but that's on the club for not buying one in the last two transfer windows.

I think King would be a perfect signing for Ole. Shame we couldn’t loan them Lingard in return but they are not blind I suppose.
