Great work from Martial. Would really like to see him be more confident in using his left foot though, add an extra dimension to his game.

Premier League: Southampton v Manchester United - 23rd September 2017

He hasn't been a standout player this season, but is his role in the team underappreciated? He tucks in, supporting the midfield two making it closer to a midfield three, which helps the team retain possession and build a base.

Was very good. Saw him spray cross field passes for the first time. Maybe I might have noticed it for the first time. But he did a very good job in the middle of the pitch today.

Premier League: Huddersfield Town 2-1 Manchester United - 21st October 2017

Poor mistake for Huddersfield's first goal.

He needs to offer more in the attacking third.

He hasn't been good this season. I really like mata as a person and he is a good player but one i feel we could upgrade on.

Agree with that. Him, Lingard and Smalling will do well to be here next season.

Add to that Darmian, Blind & Young.

This is part of the problem to many good but not great players in the squad at the moment gives us depth but not necessarily strength.

Premier League: Manchester United 4-1 Newcastle United - 18th November 2017

In a period where we are all talking about Miki’s form being down the toilet and Zlatan potentially being a Number 10, fair play to Mata yesterday. He doesn’t do anything flashy to grab a headline and his not got pace to burn like a lot of attacking minded players in the prem. But his so intelligent and picks passes and gets into spaces that miki simply doesn’t do. It feels like his moving at all of 1mph at times but things just seem to click more often then not when his on the pitch even if his not getting an assist or goal.

I still think he will go at the end of the season. But there is more of a balance with him Pogba and Matic then when Miki tries to play that role. Especially defensively, his willing to track back and do the other side of the game, whereas everything Miki is doing at the min feels like an effort.

He was nice and tidy yesterday doing bits and pieces linking play together rather than providing killer moments, seemed to play more on the right than in the centre which was surprising but he had a lot of freedom to move where he wanted.

Certainly a better option than Mkhi at the minute, think nearly everyone is though atm. Not sure what's wrong with him, dropped from whole squad yesterday and has a job on his hands to get back in.

Whole attack was poor, just a really weird day, not sure what the problem was, complacency maybe, wasn't good whatever it was.

Premier League: Manchester United 0-1 West Bromwich Albion - 15th April 2018

He's put in far better performances than we've seen today and has been replaced. Odd that he plays the full game when he was fairly poor.

I wondered if he was fiven the full 90 minutes because he didn't plan on using him away at Bournemouth?

Also, in that situation where you need someone to be cool and calm and spot an error Mata is your man but West Brom didn't make the mistake.

Personally I'd have had him off for Martial when the 2nd sub was made rather than Pogba as the Pogba sub lost us all our shape.
