Valencia-------Rooney----------Nani

for me 1st half of the season is the best time to play everton.they, like us take time to get their season going and when they get going, like last year, they beat any team in the league.now they aren't in great shape so im delighted to get this fixture out of the way quickly.

I expect a win for United.

I always hope SAF will opt for Rafael instead of O'shea but it never seems to happen. When we don't use him at OT agains lesser teams, will we use him away against Everton? Not so sure. Rooney will def get a goal this game:)

1-3 to Utd

Very tight game, 2-1. I'd go with Wes Brown at RB, quicker and better in attack than O'Shea, i'd probably say he's better in defence too, I think he's fitter now too. I can see Rafael becoming the first choice RB in time.

Everton haven't started the season well at all, but this International break can change everything.

I feel a lot more comfortable with him at RB than O'Shea and Rafael. I'm a tad unconfident when he plays CB though, looks all over the shop at times.

He should be fit enough by the Everton game, guess we'll see Thursday if he plays for the reserves.

O'Shea has been very underwhelming at RB so far, i'm dying to see Rafael start!! but unlikely it'll be against tough opposition like Everton..

If it was Everton at home I think Rafael may start.

I personaly would like to see rafi play!

but the main prospect is a win for us!

In Switzerland. Will he be able to vent his anger in front of 40,000 Evertonians shouting abuse at him though. He didn't cope there last season and we ended up having to take him off as he was getting angered.

Fair point. Rooney was not his normal self in the fixture at Goodison last season, he was very poor. There was talk of his rift between Moyes being smoothed, perhaps this affected his performance on the day.

unfortunate that we have to go to Goodison this weekend of all the places, ideal would have been a home game.
i think Rooney shouldn't travel, say clear of the press and lay low for a while..

I would like to see rooney play but keep his mouth shut.

off course he will be full of anger but he is old enough to ignore that and put the ball in the net hopefully

the celebration was supperb :D

It just can get better with him!

my tipp: 3:1 for United goals: Nani, Berbatov, Rooney

Going to be a tough trip. I think Rooney will definitely play.
Probable lineup: Vds, O'shea/Wes, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Scholes, Valencia, Rooney, Berba
I'm not sure if Wes is fit enough for the game. If he is, then he should probably start. And since there was the international break, Scholes should be fresh for the match.

I personally would stick Carrick in and match them 5 across the middle - we made the mistake last season in starting Rooney which resulted in him playing in every single position on the pitch instead of his own; relieving us of possession and generally getting involved with crowd interaction - eventually being subbed. Keep him at home Fergie - despite his form and the fact a goal from him would be utterly fantastic….

Park for Valencia and I think you've got it spot on! :)

Hmm, yeah you're probably right. Park I think is ideal for such fixtures.

Hello Sleepy, welcome to the forum :)

Berbatov as the lone striker, Sleepy?

Yes but with flexibility of the system, Nani and Park would be in close attendance and Scholes running from deep…But I dont think Fergie will learn from last season as we know he likes to take a risk - and for that reason im going Berba-Roo with Rooney to score the winner 1-0! :)

(Its the only way ill forgive Fergie for starting him after last year's debacle, put it that way! Nikos)

I also think there could be some changes because 3 games 2 competitions we need to change players.

Park for Valencia maybe against Everton... Berbatov as lone striker wouldnt be in my mind because I think we need to rest and rotate the middfield!

But... SAF will decide the right way I think :D

think the Travelling will be a factor... off course it must be I think

Did Park feature for South Korea against Iran this week? If so, will the travelling involved be a factor in Sir Alex's decision?

Yes he did good point - perhaps stick with Giggs then, as cant see Valencia starting for a host of reasons...

i think Fergie might use Rafael and Valencia in the Rangers game, one of Nani or Valencia are gonna be rested against Everton, hink it'll be Valencia, coz we need Nani in full flow and fresh for the Liverpool game the next week..

from the official site, the Today at OT page,
09:50 Main points from Sir Alex's press conference (pre-embargo part, quotes paraphrased):

"We've had a little setback with Michael Carrick. Out for 3 weeks with an Achilles problem. He's seen a specialist and had an injection. Anderson came off with a niggle last night but it won't knock him back for long. Everyone else is fit. Rio's in the squad - he wanted to play last night but his training performances are so good, he doesn't need to."

"Everton's a hard place to go - the atmosphere's always terrific - but we have a fantastic record there. I think I've lost only three times there in 24 years."

"FIFA's best decision in my time here was to play the internationals on Friday and Tuesday, giving us an extra day to recover. That said, Valencia and Chicharito arrived back from the Americas last night so we'll have to assess them this morning."

On the prospect of Ryan Giggs managing Wales, the gist of Sir Alex's view was, "He's still a player here." In other words, don't expect it to happen anytime soon. (AB)

sad that Carrick is Injured and looks like even Ando wont be playing this weekend, might see Corry Evans or Eikrem on the bench midweek?

I've loathed their fans ever since they've been booing Rooney for ditching Everton for United.ffs they weren't able to provide CL football to such a talented a skillful player.United were able to and rightly so signed him.It would have been sheer waste of talent if Rooney hadn't played in CL which I'm sure he wouldn't have if he hadn't left Everton

4-5-1 game, i suppose. I'd like to see Brown at the RB. his devensive skills will be needed tomorrow.
Park Probably will play as well. Especially with Carrick injured.
I don't think Ferdie will start tomorrow. At best, will be on the bench.

I hope Rooney do the same thing that he did in 06/07. Play well, score goals and celebrates kissing the United's badge in front of Everton's crowd.

I will try to see the game, but do not know i will. will be broadcasted at 8:45 am here.

very very unlikely to see a 4-5-1 imo, With Berba's current form i doubt Sir Alex will bench him and if Rooney isn't going to play then i think Hernandez/ Macheda might start.
been very disappointed with Owen so far, doesn't seem to be playing his usual way, he's dropping deep to link up play at which he isn't that great rather than play off the last defender

yeah but so far he has been far too deep for my liking, hopefully its just by mistake, will only know after he gets some more chances.

van der Sar; Neville, Vidic, Evans, Evra; Scholes, O'Shea, Fletcher; Nani, Giggs; berbatov
Subs: Kuszczak, Rafael, Smalling, Gibson, Park, Macheda, Owen

Fergie obviously gone for experience today. Berbatov has to step it up another gear again today. O'Shea in midfield over Gibson, more down to experience in my opinion than Fergie having little faith in him, maybe height aswell.

Chicha and Valencia rested after midweek journeys.

This is Everton away though. Only Evans and Nani are under 25. Gibson ain't played this season either.

I said last week, Fergie either wants a captain who is playing week in week out or this was something Vida wanted in his contract.

Good game so far, we need more possession. Park for O'Shea might be a good idea.
