Would be an incredible signing as I think he’s class in a basket and he is about to enter into his final 12 months of his Spurs deal so it’s a possibility. However, we all know how much of a stickler Levy is in negotiations so we would still have to pay top top dollar.

Just me or does it feel like he’s had a quiet season this year?

Lovely player but unless we are going 4-2-3-1 where does he fit as surely in the 4-3-3 he’d be in the
Pogba role.

See how long this rumour lasts plenty of rumours that Madrid are very keen and I think that would be a more likely destination. Spurs will be very reluctant to sell to another PL side even with his contract situation they’ll be looking to force him abroad.

why would you leave Spurs for Man Utd? especailly when Madrid, and probably other top clubs, want you.

do you want players who only come for money? At his age and wealth he should be motivated by trophies as he has none, and he has more chance as Spurs and Madrid.

There is no way he woud come to united.

It’s not just money that would motivate players to come here, our success may have tailed off but we are still one of the biggest clubs in the world and still have an awful lot of prestige attached to us. Also it’s not like Spurs are very far ahead of us and unless they spend some money I think they will be on a downward curve especially if they lose the likes of Eriksen. Also back to us, our success will come back, we have had a quiet five or so years but our club is too big to stay quiet forever.

I would say united are at least 2 years off competing, so a 28/29 year old will be thnking about that, or should be.

For me we need to target younger, hungrier players who have time on their sides to be involved in a build process. I think 29 year old people coming to united are coming for money only. And it doesn't work, as Sanchez proves.

Someone like Kroos, or Varane who have won everything, I can see them wanting to take a challenge, Erikson, I would question his motives.

Varane maybe, but Kroos at 29 years old ? Im not sure.

this summer the signings just need to be right, cannot bare another bad window !

Yeah, don't want Kroos, just saying his next club I imagine he will choose for the challenge rather than the wedge.

Erikson who's won nothing, should really be looking at medals and not money.

To be honest I don't think we'd go for him, nothing story.

I hope we go Sancho

Me too bud, Sancho would be top of my list I think - think he will light up the prem if played in his right position.

I like Koulibaly for the CB position, but would take a huge bid to prize him away from Napoli.

Really like Wan Bissaka, but I dont know if we will go for him with having Dalot.

Excited to see what the window brings anyway

I don't particularly want players who just come for the money. Neither have I said I want Eriksson. You posed the question why would he leave spurs to come to United and I gave you the answer. Plus we are not talking about a team that is light years ahead of United here, we are talking about spurs, who even in the period of stability they have had against our instability have won nothing. If we wanted Eriksson and he fancied it I think it would be an easy sell.

Sorry, didn't mean to seem like I was having a pop, I was more saying the article has to be nonsense, can't see why we would want him or why he would come, unless it was for money.

Madrid are after him, but I'm not sure ZZ is all that a manager to be honest, we'll see.

Lol. Don't worry mate I am hard to offend I think he is good enough for us but I am not sure where he would fit us.

Not happening in a month of Sunday’s. Why are we only ‘preparing’ a bid two days before the window shuts. I call bull.

He's got 12 months left on his contract, that Dybala deal fell through and it seems like Madrid are out of the picture for Eriksen.

If Utd are going to 4-2-3-1 signing a top class specialist number 10 like Eriksen makes a lot of sense if we've got cash coming in for Lukaku because the only one we have in the squad is Mata.

Testing Spurs patience late in the window isn't a bad idea but if we are bidding it would suggest Utd are interested in signing a number 10.

If Utd are bidding my guess is they'll know from the agent what the terms are so a deal can be done Spurs won't want to risk losing Eriksen for nothing next summer even if it means strengthening a rival in Utd.

Yeah it isn’t a bad idea and with 12 months left I would say Levy would rather cash in now for at least £40-50m than lose him for free. In theory it’s perfect, I just think so close to the end of the window it seems unlikely. I’m very happy to be proven wrong!

Probably depends what Spurs have lined up to replace him if they've got something lined up like you say they might take the cash now and just move on if they haven't got anything they might just take the hit or gamble that Eriksen changes his mind and signs a new deal which is unlikely.

The big question is why would Eriksen want to join Utd apart from the money?

Obviously the Fernandes to Spurs are swirling around but they most likely don’t hold any weight. Then there is Lo Celso - if they can get someone in then I can see Levy letting him go but like you say would he even want to come here? There is the thought that we are bound to eventually get back to the top what with our resources, history etc but players can’t wait forever. I just feel it’s one of those rumours that come up so close to the end of a window. SSN have even said we haven’t had any contact with Spurs yet so you’d have thought we needed to pretty soon. If he doesn’t move then it’s going to be a mad scramble to get him on a free next summer.

Typical Woodward this isn't it? Cracking player and one I'd take in a heartbeat but doesn't seem to fit the MO of what we are looking for? And does he really think he can get a deal done before Thursday with Levy? Get real.

I think he's exactly what we do need if we are changing the system if we are playing 4-2-3-1 like we did in pre season then we need a number 10 which is what Eriksen is.

He's 27 and in the absolute prime of his career strengthen yourselves and weaken a rival is a great way of doing business if you can pull it off.

yeah I agree, this would be great for us. We would have a pretty strong first 11.

I still think it would leave a big problem in the midfield alongside Pogba as we haven't really solved the Matic issue but with a guy like Eriksen in the team there's less burden on Pogba to get forward so he can probably play a bit more like he does with France.

The problem is levy is very tough to deal with. We could think we are getting him right up to the e d of deadline day and then not get him. I think we are pretty much all in agreement that we cannot go into this season without at least one midfield signing

The talk is it's Spurs initiating the talks not us they want to sell Eriksen so Utd have a strong(ish) hand as Spurs know once that window shuts on Thursday the bids from European clubs will drop because without Premiership money available to selling clubs prices have to be dropped.

With his age and profile if he had 2 years left on his deal you are talking £100m for him but with only 1 year you can probably half that but both the player and his agent will want big commissions as well as they know you're saving on the transfer fee so overall you probably don't actually save that much.

I think if we did put a £50m offer in then surely Spurs would have to accept no? As in January he is free to talk to European clubs and sign a pre-contract. This is Spurs’ last chance to get any decent money for him but they could just accept they are going to lose him for free just to keep him for another season and hopefully contribute towards them winning a trophy finally.

Can't argue with this. I like the idea of signing Eriksen but it's not quite that easy and straight forward.

Mitten is a good source for United so wouldn’t say we are on the cusp of anything with Eriksen.

We are in danger of not signing any midfield player this window. That will completely undo any goodwill woodward has managed to muster with his completed signings. We just can't go into the season with our present midfield

Eriksson and Fernandes to start with and may still happen. I don't for one minute believe there is nobody out there. It isn't like we are looking for somebody to replace schomes and Keane. We are looking for players better than fred and Pereira

Erikson wants Spain, Fernandes wants Spurs.

The only serious player it looks like wants to come is Savic, but he'll only come if Pogba goes.

Personally, I would have gone for Rice, too late now though.

I think we are assuming we know a lot of things about a lot of players. I can't believe we can't find a decent midfield player that wants to come to us. I am a little worried that the money isn't there and we will only do a deal if we can bully someone into practically giving someone away.
