I'm thinking this guy could really kick on under Jose. I know it's early days and this is just one game but we all know he's got the talent. If Jose can get his mentality right then he could play a really key role.

Interesting new role for Pereira today, playing deeper, have said in the past it's a position I think could really suit him because he can be quite a tenacious performer. Range of passing was excellent and got out of trouble on a couple of occasions with his dribbling. Was only Wigan but thought he was class and would like to see more of him as a deep lying playmaker. Great finish too.

Yeah I think so. Decent work rate. Can dribble and pass. He likes a tackle, a little bit too much sometimes. Not in the deep Carrick role but maybe next to him.

Interesting that Jose played him in that role because I've never actually considered him in that role. To me he's always been a really good attacking creative player. But from the sounds of it he really excelled there today and Jose even praised him after the game. Will be interesting to see if that is a role he continues to be tried in throughout the pre season.

Mourinho praised him after the game. Wonder if it's a position Mourinho wanted to play him in or whether he played him there because we're short in midfield at the moment because of players away at the Euros.

Yeah could have been... He wouldn't fit the typical mould of a midfielder for Jose but I guess he could play a Fabregas role?

Well for me it's a big powerful mobile midfielder in the mould of Matic? Or if there's a player good enough in that Makalele type role.
