Coronavirus

Cases were always going to rise as people were allowed to go back to normal behaviours the virus isn't going to suddenly bugger off.

I guess the test is now do we have enough capacity within the health service to cope we know what is coming now so we have drugs that can help combat it, we have more ventilators, we have more testing capacity, we hopefully have the PPE to keep the staff safe etc etc. We shouldn't be caught out again.

Numbers will rocket when schools go back in a few weeks in England there's no way they'll close down hospitality again as that's just a death sentence for the industry and will cause mass unemployment.

Honestly they're just going to have to see how it pans out and no doubt when it goes up they'll blame the kids, the parents, the teachers and the schools.
Thats no fecking good to me, I dont want to catch it in the first place.

I don't think anyone wants to catch it but life has to go on we can't stay hidden in our houses while we wait for a vaccine that's the part that really sucks.

We know the ways to reduce the risks so follow them and hope luck is on your side, mad thing is you might have had it and not even known and have a life long immunity to it. We just don't know.

At least now if you do get it and get it bad there's a much better chance of surviving than there was 5 months ago.

Yeah and this is where we are at in our house hold to be honest. We are limiting our interactions but also trying to get on with life as much as possible.

I have been looking at flights to Glasgow recently but not booked anything yet. There are no reports to date of flying being a problem and being a short flight I wouldnt see wearing a mask a problem.
Regardless, I decided against it and decided to start the long drive in the early hours of the morning. Probably the more sensible option.

Well, I am in the West End of Glasgow and they certainly seem to take the Covid thing very seriously.
All bars and eating places very well managed and they are not taking any shit. This is the rules, comply or feck off out of it.
Mind you I suppose it is Monday evening.

Shoot,

Your message (Coronavirus) contains inappropriate language:

Need I even highlight your poor language! Do yourself a favor. Cut it out and add value otherwise leave the forum.

Taking any sh*t.

Comply or f*ck off.

You know what you've said don't be a complete fool. Just back down. You won't win this argument.
You want to call me a fool :) feck. That is not my language, it is your's!

This forum edits certain words to read as something else should someone post it. Where F*ck is concerned the forum edit's it to feck just as it edits C*nt to cnut. So it is not my language is it? by editing the words like that you are deciding what language is acceptable, not me.

Just back down. You wont win this argument, you say? Your a narcissist and a nincompoop.
I hope those words are allowed in your rules :p

I can't see that you add any value whatsoever. You bring no meaningful contribution to the forum. If you want to carry on the way you are then go ahead. It ends one way.

Is that your answer to me highlighting that you have accused me of inappropriate language when you set the language in the first place?
I answered you, so you answer me. Is it my language or yours?

It isn't my language. I didn't create the forum. The rule is set up to edit your post to remove offensive words. But what respectful posters should do is not use an offensive word in the first place.

It isnt my language either, who ever created the forum or set such edits has effectively deemed those words as viewed to be acceptable. That is the message it sends. If that weren't the case it would edit f*ck off to go away as opposed to feck off.
Maybe you should consult whoever created the forum and tell them it is unacceptable to you and request they change the rules and/or editing to suit your own ideals.
Let me know how you get on and give me an update on the rules when done, cheers!

Gee stop the petty childish squabbling. Just don’t swear, what does it matter if the forum edits or not - it’s a family friendly site so there is no need to swear.

they're talking about the eat out thing on the radio.

Do you get £10 off regardless. So if your meal is £9 you pay nothing? I thought it was 50% off up to a value of £10 so a £9 meal would cost you £4.50

No point to this question really, other than curiosity

thats what I thought, some fella said he's been getting a Mcdonalds breakfast, bun, coffee, hash browns for £1:30 or something.

Must have some vouchers too. In pizza express I get my bite card 50% off then half that off.

Yeah it’s 50% off on food and soft drinks up to a maximum of £10 per head. It’s only supposed to apply to sit down meals but some of the fast food outlets are doing it on takeaways just say you’re eating in to get your discount.

Just come back from a few days down on the coast stayed in a hotel have to say most businesses handled it all pretty well. You have to wear your mask in communal areas of the hotel but once you sit at a table you can take it off. They don’t come in to clean your room every day either.

The bars in the town all had a track and trace QR code to scan at the bar or a form to fill out, 1 way systems and tables well spread out and it was mainly just families sticking together not really interacting with other groups.

The eat out to help out made it a bit of a nightmare to get booked in anywhere for food.

Not sure how long these businesses will last into the autumn when they lose outdoor space going to be a nightmare for a lot of pubs that extra space has made life much easier for them.

The last few days I have been wearing a mask more often than normal. Its made me feel a bit off. Throat feels funny, a bit like the throat you get signalling a cold coming on and I have a bit of a sinus type headache. Generally feel stuffy.
Them masks are probably best only worn when really necessary I think.

I feel for the businesses in town centres who are struggling due to home working. However, I am not overly impressed with the government now encouraging everyone back to the office.
Packed transport systems again, and you know what the result will be.

Reckon they’re bricking it over companies closing offices in city centres.

The talk of back to the office or lose your job is nonsense employers will only get rid of its weakest staff in the office or not.

The future will be more flexible for a lot of people few days in the office a few days from home those who can productively work from home still should.

The government trying to force people back in the office is nonsense. Companies will see the savings they can make, see that most of the staff are a lot happier with the flexibility and less stressed.

Most companies will have regional bases I think. Like the company I work for will have a South West base that people can get to on the train easily in an hour or so. But you'll only go in a handful of times a month or regularly if you really want to.

Well I’m guessing there’s plenty of rich Tory doners who own a lot of these buildings who desperately need firms back in and paying rents. A lot of companies will want to downsize but until covid restrictions get lifted they need big offices with lower capacity and eventually we hope to be back to something like normal. Going to work and being around work people has a huge mental benefit. Sounds mad but how many people meet their partner at work or through a work friend? Not even partners but just mates who you end up socialising with. There’s give and take to the going to the office.

It’s not that way for everyone though working from home for me is fine I’ve got no kids and I’ve got a space to use as an office but that isn’t a luxury everyone has. Not having a home office setup shouldn’t become a barrier to getting a job.

You also have to think longer term when you were starting out in your career could you have developed your skills without being around others. This is the hardest thing I see with everyone working from home how do you train and then monitor people’s work to help them progress.

I think post covid employers will become more flexible in terms of a bit more working from home but I think a lot will want offices back up and running.

Gatherings of more than 6 people banned from Monday.

I actually thought that was the rule anyway.

Telegraph say there’ll be a press conference tonight and also think he may impose a nationwide 10pm curfew.

I’m in Tuesday / Thursday. Got to say there is pretty much nothing in place once in the office. Other than sanitizer placed round.
