Palermo claim to have rejected Manchester United bid for Paulo Dybala | Football | The Guardian

Palermo claim they have rejected interest from Manchester United in the 21-year-old striker Paulo Dybala.

But the Italian club’s president, Maurizio Zamparini, says he is willing to talk again in the summer about the potential sale of the Argentinian, who has scored nine goals in 17 appearances this season.

“Dybala is worth over €40m [£31million] but I won’t sell him until June,” Zamparini told Radio Due. “Many foreign clubs asked after him, including Manchester United.

“I told the English side that he is not for sale right now, but we can talk about it again in six months. In my view, he is the best striker in Europe at the moment.”

Palermo signed Dybala from Argentinian club Instituto for £9m in 2012.

After signing the player, Zamparini hailed him as “the new Sergio Agüero”.

With Falcao unlikely to be signed, Van Persie past his peak and Rooney looking increasingly likely to see out his career in a midfield 3. A striker isn't as low on the priority list as it was last summer.

Zamp: ?Arsenal, Juventus in for Dybala? | Football Italia

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini says the fight for Paulo Dybala is between Juventus and English side Arsenal.

The outspoken patron had already confirmed that he was in negotiations with the Bianconeri, and has expanded on those comments, saying the Gunners are in the running too.

“Juventus and Arsenal have already made offers,” Zamparini told Radio Marte.

“[Pierpaolo] Triulzi, the lad’s agent will be in Italy on Friday. I’m asking for more than €40m.

“Dybala would prefer to stay in Italy, but the British team Arsenal are the first choice of the lad because of the way Wenger’s team plays.”
