Boxing 2020

Warren saying it isn’t agreed yet. AJ needed to release something after the backlash he was getting.

I’d want AJ to win. Prefer him as a boxer and think he’s got more in the tank for future fights as don’t think it’s long before Fury walks away. What motivates him after the AJ fight?

But I think Fury will just outbox him all night.

I was team AJ before. And in fact up to a couple of years ago I couldn't stand Fury. Then I listened to the Joe Rogan podcast episode with Fury and that changed my mind on him completely.

And with AJ it wasn't his loss that changed my mind it was actually the rematch. He was pathetic. He fought scared. He lost all of my respect for that performance to be honest. And to me he showed that he's one of the best fighters in a era of not very good heavyweights. Fury should destroy him.

Just seen Mike Tyson training vid on his insta account. Still fast, still powerful, was the best ever for me, probably would still cause a few problems for some!

He's a year or two older than me ffs.

There s good interview with him and sugar ray Leonard on hot boxin - you tube

Surely Tyson and Holyfield aren't going to be given boxing licenses to actually fight at their age the medical risks must be huge and given both have already had long careers going back for more shots to the head can't be a good idea given what we know now about concussion risk.

dunno, but he looks a beast, don't know how to link the vid

found it youtube, you have to see an ad first though

Not doubting the bloke is in good shape but these videos are misleading that's 1 minute 30 of careful edited content lets see how many 3 minute rounds he can last and sustain any sort of power for.

Tyson obviously has a shady past but it seems like he's got his life back on track recently and turned it around but if he's coming back to boxing that means he's probably skint. I just don't understand why anyone would want to pay and watch two grandads who's best years were 20 plus years ago try and get back in the ring.

I mean I bet Robbo can still do keep ups no bother and put a ball anywhere he wants to that stuff doesn't leave your system doesn't mean he could play any sort of football match.

Yeah put Tyson in the ring with a half decent fighter then I don’t think he stands a chance. He may be able to hold his own for a bit because he is that sort of tenacious fighter but ultimately his age will show.

Looks in proper good shape though!

Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face - Tyson

I'm not saying he's going to be able fight Fury here, amazing how these threads get misdirected. I'm saying he looks amazing and fast for a 53 year old.

But I loved his fights, was really excited when he had a fight on, just the best ever.

Average 3.5 rounds over 34 professional fights.

Oh god id love to see Tyson come back. Even if it's just for a fight or two it would be a huge draw.

He seems well up for a fight with someone. But it'll be with heavier more padded gloves and exhibition style.

Taylor vs Persoon rematch on. Persoon was robbed in the first. Backed her at 3/1

Nah. I had it 6-4 Persoon. Could have accepted a round either way but 98-93 was a joke of a scorecard.

What an ending to the Whyte fight though!

Fuming though. Had Povotkin by KO at 16/1. Didn’t payout because it was a TKO as the ref immediately waved it off. The guy was knocked out cold.

What you think take it to Twitter? Bookies should be paying out on that!

Waiting for Loma-Lopez fight all year
I would also recommend you to have deal with the popular brands like , Bet365, Paddy Power or Betfair , and especially 1xbet apk as they’re as safe as you’ll get. Overall these Sportsbooks are fairly equal to one another, each with some strengths & weaknesses.

From the sound of it they've pushed the date back they've then agreed 19th December and now Wilder's camp want the fight put back to 2021 although his promoter has denied that.

Fury's camp aren't afraid of rattling feathers never have been so probably just a bit of bravado in the negotiations.

Fight is supposed to be in 2 months so can see why he wouldn't be happy about changing dates again as he's already started training.

I'm actually buzzing for the Brook Vs Crawford fight.

Absolutely love Brook and hated him taking on the GGG fight and if he could pull off a shock victory then it would be up there with the sports come backs.

Don't really expect much agreement here but it's high time this supposed sport was banned.

My mum would agree it should be banned. My dad wrestles with it's morality but actually enjoys it. I enjoy it too.

For what reason @Shoot?
I was a very enthusiastic boxing fan 80s/90s
Eubank, Benn, Watson, Collins - These were all serious battlers with Eubank adding a showmanship and arrogance which many loved and many hated. The fights between these guys were nothing short of brutal and attracted audience like had never been seen before. America couldnt get enough of our mid / super mid fighters.
I was in the Eubank camp and I threw every vicious punch at Michael Watson that night in 1991, when he made that amazing recovery and got back on his feet to throw the final devastating punch that ended Watson's career and nearly his life (or what was left of it) I was ecstatic in wild celebration.
Then the scenes on the TV changed and as news started filtering through everything turned to sadness. It was the next days news that made us all the more aware of the extent of the damage and probably another week before we knew the full picture and it was not known if he was going to survive. It was sickening thinking about the previous enthusiasm for him to take a beating.
I still took an interest into the mid 90s with the emergence of Collins but I was never close to being that enthusiastic about boxing again and as that era of boxers faded so did my interest. I have only ever had a minor boxing interest since and I wouldn't miss it if it was banned.
There have been too many brains damaged and fatalities to justify this as a sport in this day and age.

I do wonder if the rules that score fight need to be modified to protect the fighters last night in the Katie Taylor fight she won all 10 rounds landing a lot of clean head shots on her opponents but her corner refused to throw the towel. When one fighter gets so far ahead on points should the fight be called for example? You would risk losing those dramatic endings where 1 punch changes the whole fight late on.

I guess the argument is the participants know the risks when they decide to take part but maybe their needs to be rules to protect the fighters from their own egos. We’ve seen other sports introduce more restrictions for concussions.

I guess the fact the people are still willing to pay good money to watch 2 people fight means it’s going nowhere as a sport but I can see why watching what happened to Michael Watson might turn you off the sport.

How far do you go if you start banning sports like this in controlled environments?

All combat sports to be banned?
Should the Isle of Man TT be banned?
Formula 1?

Look at the studies in to life expectancy and brain damage through American Football and Rugby through repeated concussion. Ban those?

Boxing is also great for getting people back on track. Look at Joshua's story himself and where he would be without boxing. There are many others that whilst haven't gone on to careers the discipline and routine that boxing has instilled in them has turned their lives around.

I can understand the reasoning behind why people think it should be banned. I just feel those involved choose that path and that should be up to them. It's done in the safest possible way. Much with like F1 their lives are risked every weekend but it's a choice they've made.

And you could take this attitude in to everyday life. Alcohol damages the mind, the body, causes thousands of deaths a year. Should we ban people from having a choice of having a few glasses of wine an evening?

I don't think the Tyson fight should have been licensed though.

All combat sports where the obvious intention is to physically batter your opponent needs looking at. Your other comparisons are ridiculous

How so?

There are more deaths in the Isle of Man TT than boxing.

If the aim is to reduce deaths and brain injuries surely it's another sport to be banned?

As I said look in to the life expectancy and brain injuries in rugby and American football.

They're obviously only ridiculous because you personally were affected by the deaths in boxing more than in other sports. Why does Jules Bianchi's death mean less than that of someone's in a ring?

There is no comparison to combat sports and is another conversation. There are more ordinary road bike deaths as well.
This is a boxing thread.

Yeah but saying something should be banned which is done under controlled circumstances opens up the conversation to what else we should needlessly ban to appease people.
