They had a lot of shots from non threatening positions which cooked the stats a bit but we were truly poor carried no attacking threat all game apart.

Not sure what the game plan was either we seemed to offer them the entire left side of the pitch to attack were we to worried about Salah that we left them the entire left side? The sub at half time really opened up that route for them and that switch to Robertson was on all game and it was clear where the goal was going to come from.

As for us the midfield is a joke you can't have a midfield that can't pass the ball forward people are getting on Lukaku's back and yeah he was poor but the balls up to him are a joke what is he supposed to do with some of them no wonder his head drops. Rashford & Lingard grafted but often with no support full backs barely got forward.

Think the defence stood strong and gave it everything but eventually a ball broke their way and they got the goal you really can't complain because if you keep knocking on the door like Liverpool did eventually you will get a break and they deserved that luck.

Keane summed it up really after the game he didn't name names but what he said was true it wasn't a lack of effort it was a lack of ability they worked as hard as they could yesterday but Liverpool matched it and their better ability shone through.

It's a long road back from here lads honestly this isn't a quick fix once again it's change the manager and change the players because another manager has got it wrong again. Utd can't afford to keep making these expensive mistakes we need some guys who can make smart decisions in this club now otherwise we are destined to remain as has beens for a long time.

Just look at Shaqiri we all know he's talented he's on the market for £15m we are desperate for a right sided forward in his mould yet we don't go anywhere near him. We are getting beaten in the transfer market all hands down by our rivals currently and while they move forward we are going backwards.

He's right guys, we are years off getting back to where us as fans know what we should be playing like and winning a title again.

New manager is a start but really we need proper decision makers at board level first get these guys in place come up with a plan then execute the plan. Direction and leadership has to come from the very top now the days of a manager calling the shots are over the world has changed until Utd get that structure in place things won't improve as the role of the manager at this club is to big for one man.

That plan needs to be identify an up and coming manager then over the space of maybe 2 summers make the necessary changes to this squad that will get us playing the type of football that wins leagues now. That is a free scoring team that can score 100 goals a season and bang 90 points on the board.

If that man is Pochetinno for example and he can't come until the summer then maybe we need to just wait until the summer and ride out the Mourinho thing for a season basically write off the season.

It won’t take years under the right manager.

Put the new man in now and I think he could close the gap on the rest of top 4 next season 6 months to work out who to keep/who has to go. A summer to solve the major problems would hopefully get us back competing for top 4 but think it would take another full season at least to get us competing for a title.

That's assuming we appoint the right manager and nail every signing we make and recent history suggests that's going to be tough.

They should do what city did, get the players in to suit the manager/style they want. In advance

City appointed directors from Barca, they then appointed Pellegrini a manager Barca considered to replace Pep so the foundations were laid for Pep and like you say players that suited that Barca style were signed prior to getting the manager they wanted. If they hadn't got Pep you can guarantee they had a plan B, C, D for that event.

At Utd no one above the manager is capable of making those sort of decisions because we don't have an identity or style anymore it's long gone thanks to 3 radically different styles of football under 3 different managers in 5 years.

Given we need to change now I'd get the manager who plays the style of football we want in now and give him 6 month to work out who can and who can't follow his instructions then force players out in the summer and get in the players he needs to play his style. It sounds like back to square one because it is and it'll be expensive just can't see the club sanctioning that.
