Congratulations to Patrice Evra, Darren Fletcher, Antonio Valencia and Wayne Rooney for being selected in the Premier League team of the year.
Evra has performed like a robot for Manchester United this season – he has been constantly excellent. United would have been lost without his contribution, when considering the injury crisis the team has suffered. He was also appointed captain, illustrating how highly rated he is by Sir Alex Ferguson. Far are the memories of his nightmare debut – top player and seemingly top man. Evra loves United!
Darren Fletcher in the Premier League team of the year? An opposition fan would have laughed in your face for even the thought of Fletcher being included in the team of the year. Not now though! Fletcher offers energy and a nonstop engine. In his absence the difference in overall team performance is noticeable.
Antonio Valencia has had a superb first season at United, his pace and direct running have been a real threat. How the media and opposition fans laughed when his signing was announced. Valencia had the added pressure of replacing Ronaldo, although I never saw Valencia as a direct replacement for Ronaldo. Valencia is more of your traditional winger where as Ronaldo likes to drift all over the pitch. Hopefully Valencia will continue to develop and improve in his second season.
Before the season started all the so called experts and pundits were excited by the thoughts of us struggling to score goals. Please step forward Wayne “Wazza” Rooney. Rooney has scored 34 goals in 42 appearances. Also, last season in the Premier League we scored 80 goals compared to 81 this season with two games remaining. So where are the goals going to come from? Wayne Rooney is the answer! He fully deserves the PFA award.
