Welcome to the first Stretford End Arising Player Ratings. After the somewhat fortunate draw against Aston Villa, I asked members of the community to score individual player’s performance with a score from 0-10. The average score was calculated and the results are below. Register with the Stretford End Arising forum to have an influence on the ratings against Wigan.
With Chelsea suffering defeat to Steve Bruce’s Sunderland the fight back at Villa Park can now be viewed as a point gained. Chelsea in comparison had nothing. Think it’s fair to suggest we haven’t hit top gear yet, nowhere near in fact. I’m happy Chelsea are dropping points, but I’m more concerned with the level of our performance this season. We’ve been poor more times than good this season, but we’re fighting. That’s all we can ask for while we’re not on top form.
Stretford End Arising’s Player Ratings
Manchester United’s Starting XI
Van der Sar – 6.42: Couldn’t do much about the goals. (g@mb!t)
Brown – 4.7: Torrid vs Downing, allowed him to cross far too much by giving him way too much room. (g@mb!t)
Ferdinand – 6.1
Vidic – 7.1:Our best player on field. Solid, safe, confident and saved the team from the defeat. (Jorgefoo)
Evra – 5.6
Nani – 4.9: 10th assist, ok. But a lot of mistakes on passing, corner kicks, drible… Awful performance. (Jorgefoo)
Fletcher – 5.7
Carrick – 5.4
Park – 4.8: Give the ball away ALL THE TIME in the second half. Delivered three counter attacks to Vllla and an amount of passing mistakes. (Jorgefoo)
Berbatov – 5.25
Hernandez – 5: Struggling, bad movement, bad tackles, bad passing, bad shots, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. (Jorgefoo)
Substitutes
Macheda – 7
Obertan – 6.75: Was a threat with his direct running and passing, our intensity increased once he and Macheda were on, about time he gets a start on the wing. (g@mb!t)
Smalling – N/A

Agree about Park Horrible game and hes had a few (simply not good enough in my opinion) but in my eyes the only player who should be as low or even lower marked than Park is Berbs. To mark Hernandez lower than him is insulting. Complete and utter garbage from him with a complete lack of effort too. Nani must have hit the first man with 99.9% of all his crosses as well. Can I rate the ref as well and give him a 2 or 3? Let Villa kick the sh*t out us and never penalised their centre halfs pushing ours over at corners every single time.
Just because Hernandez is the new guy doesnt mean he should be rated high all the time, he had a shit game, gave the ball away far too easily.. I dont remember Berba giving the ball away much.. He just didnt get enough support and had a poor day not as poor as chicharito though. I remember he ran alot, sometimes he walks around, but he is a striker not a work horse midfield player.
The difference being one is 22 and has only played a handful of Premier league games and the other has been here 2 and half years now and still isnt doing the business. The whole team were pants and Berbs got no support sure but he needs to work harder regardless and stop throwing his hands in the air at every misplaced pass as it doesnt help. I happen to think Berbs is a quality footballer but i defy anyone to say over 2 and half years he has proved his worth as a United forward.
No, you are not the only one that has noticed Edwin’s poor contribution to United this year ………
Vulnerable, Defective And Substandard
The only pass that Edwin van der Sar seems to making these days is with the Manchester United supporters.
