Ben Davies
Manchester United’s Player Ratings
Very difficult to be overly critical of the overall team performance when three minutes of madness has resulted in the loss of points.
Van Der Sar – 6: Made several good saves and claimed well from crosses. Little he could for the goals conceded.
Neville – 6: Struggled early on with Pienaar’s pace, but was relatively okay after Everton’s initial onslaught. Both crosses for Everton’s late goals came from his side – perhaps showing tiredness late on, which is to be expected due to his lack of a game time.
Vidic – 7.5: At his commanding best in the air – his tussle with Cahill was a joy to watch. Pleasing to see the Serbian on the score sheet again after his last goal came against Wolverhampton Wanderers last December.
Evans -6: Good for 90 minutes – several good blocks and challenges. Three minutes of madness spoilt his performance. Think the criticism he has received has been over the top.
Evra – 5: Very poor game from the ever reliable Frenchman. Still not quite sure what he was trying to achieve in his acrobatic clearance, which lead to Everton’s opening goal? Perhaps missing out on a proper pre-season is catching up on him?
Nani – 7.5: Was at his frustrating best during the first half – two awful crosses, but one sublime cross, which allowed Fletcher to score Man United’s first goal. Still wasteful at times, but with two assists to his name I’m being overly critical.
Fletcher – 7: Typical Fletcher performance – full of energy and surged forward when the opportunity arose. Good finish for equaliser.
O’Shea – 5: Little influence in central midfield. He has struggled at right back so his selection in the engine room was a tad odd – when was the last time O’Shea played central midfield in a match? Darron Gibson must wonder what is going on. He still did not feature with both Carrick & Anderson injured and Park perhaps less fresh due to the travelling involved from international duty.
Scholes – 7.5: Good again after a slow start. Brilliant pass for Berbatov’s goal and a nice little pass to Nani, which lead to Vidic’s goal. Had a great opportunity late in the second half to seal victory, but uncharacteristically his attempt was not a clean strike. An effort in the first half brought a stunning save from Tim Howard after his shot was deflected. Look jaded towards the end, perhaps could have been replaced for fresher legs.
Giggs – 7: Played well overall – decent passing and crossing. Brought a good save from Howard after strong play from Fletcher, perhaps could have done better with opportunity?
Berbatov – 8: The Bulgarian continued his impressive start to the season. His best performance as a lone striker – showing he is capable of playing the role if Rooney is unavailable. His goal was class, the 30th in 91 appearances for United – decent record for a flop.

Personally, I thought Rafael should have come on for neville, and Kiko/Owen for giggs towards the end. Fergie sometimes forgets that they’re getting tired at the end of the game. We’ve seen it before with United, and 4 points behind isnt that bad after 4 games. Frustrating as it was, it’s a long season.
on a positive note, (4 games in mind), the best transfer of the season hasn’t been talked about. Berbatov finally joining United, after all the nonsense with Levy selling us teh wrong Berbatov for the last 2 seasons. lol. He was immense and deserved better. Should have been his day, and his praise instead it’s gone to everton.
Berbatov man of the match?? He was absent the majority of it, it’s getting tiresome. Excellent goal, but he can’t keep living off 10 minute games!
Overall I would say Tim Howard to be honest!
But on the Reds I would say apart from his little bit of petulence, Vidic.
My man of the match was Paul Scholes,he ran the game!
Vida, Berba Nani played well, but apart from that we were average and outplayed. How did we get to 3-1? Because of “ten minutes” of class from those three. It’s class moments that win games, not just hard work. Berba to be fair should have made it 4-1 and we wouldnt be moaning about a draw! Shame Hernadez was absent as well. his pace would have killd everton off.
evans one of the worst players on the pitch. scholes goof frist half and poor second half. nani exclent crossing should passed to park which would of made it 4-1 sanme with berbatov should passed to giiggs would made it 4-1 . why did scholes put up his hand van der would of save it john o shea is not a middfielder. why did he take of evra all right had poor frist half but a better second half. should of taken neivle of and o shea right back.
