Bryan Waters

Manchester United has been in my blood since birth. Being named after Bryan Robson, “Captain Marvel” himself, and growing up in a house with a father who made the trip to the Champions League semi-final first leg against Dortmund on his own means that supporting United is the only option.

George Best posters on the landing in the house, United crest wallpaper in my room as a child, most of my weekends were spent making the trip from my hometown of Bury to the Theatre of Dreams or across the country. I’ve been to Barnsley in the freezing cold rain inside an open-roofed stand in 1998, bunked off school for a Monday night fixture at Craven Cottage and watched Diego make the Scousers cry.

Studying sports journalism at the University of Central Lancashire has coupled my taste for football with my ability to write. Writing about all things United is something that has always intrigued me and only being 20 means I have plenty of years ahead of me watching the team I love.

As far as favourite moments go, Scholes away at the Etihad Stadium will always be one. Just the way Evra’s cross seemed to hang for an eternity and the header could not have been placed any better. Attending United for years has created its fair share of thrills and spills and one of my favourite celebrations was for Alan Smith’s last-gasp equaliser against Blackburn in the 2004/05. Such a late finish and the away end at Ewood Park went absolutely bonkers, me and my dad included.

Hope you enjoy reading what I have to say.

Cheers,
Bryan
