A Wolff To Watch Out For At Old Trafford

By G@mb!t.

Eikrem is one of the several Norwegians youngsters currently at Old Trafford thanks to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s soccer school in Norway. Eikrem was born on 08 Aug 1990 and joined Manchester United from FK Molde in the summer of 2006. He went on to impress at the youth level and built on it as he moved on become a regular for the reserves in the 2008/09 season.

Over the last 2years, Eikrem has shown exceptional growth as he grew form a short and frail youngster to a really tall and is starting to grow into his body. Magnus had a very good season last year with the reserves, before it was cut short due to injury, but his performances were rewarded with a first team call up for the Carling Cup clash with Wolves in September 2009. Magnus’s brilliant performances have been mainly linked with his move to play more centrally, hence allowing him to show how good a passer he is. His performances in 2009 were sufficient to earn him a nomination for the Denzel Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year award 2009/10.

Currently the Captain of the reserve team, Eikrem’s style of play can be compared to the likes of Ozil and Modric, whether he can ever reach their level is down to how he performs, but the signs are promising at the moment. He is an excellent passer and has great vision, also makes intelligent runs in and around the penalty box. Eikrem should develop into an excellent playmaker in the future ashe has all the right attributed to excel at the position.

His performances during pre-season and the first few games of the new reserves season have been excellent. Last week, Eikrem played alongside experience players such as Gary Neville, Wes Brown, and Michael Carrick against Manchester City Elite Development Squad and provided two assists in the team’s 3-1 victory over them. Eikrem outshone the likes of Carrick and Gibson, and if he continues to perform so well a call up to the first team for the Carling Cup clash against Scunthorpe shouldn’t be a surprise. A good performance there could help him make a push for a Premier league debut this season.

Eikrem could be one of the best midfield prospects we have in the reserves currently and as he continues to improve and impress with every game, we can expect to see much more of the Wolff in the future at Old Trafford!
