The next few transfer windows, particularly next summer, can't be understated as to how important they are. Reason being at present there are a hatful of incredible young talents at quite small clubs, with every respect. Being at these relatively small clubs obviously makes it a lot easier for these players to become available, but also increases the interest in them.
For me, we have to nab one or two of these players, not because we badly need new players but more that we don't want to be left behind because one thing is for sure Madrid, City, Chelsea and the likes will certainly be making moves for them.
Here are a few of these players and who they may end up with...
-Mario Gotze (B.Dortmund)..... Every big club wants him. Recently said he prefers Spain over England. I can see him moving to Madrid next summer.
-Eden Hazard (Lille)...... Again he's in high demand, Madrid have always held an interest, with Zidane a big influence, however if they move for Gotze they won't go for Hazard and that could leave him available to the English clubs. City or Chelsea seem the most likely.
-Neymar (Santos)...... Barca rumoured to have an agreement in place.
-Ganso (Santos)....... AC Milan have made a bid recently. Can see him ending up in Italy.
-Lucas (Sao Paulo.)..........Another I can see ending up in Italy, with Inter strongly linked.
-Christian Eriksen (Ajax).........We have been strongly linked. Considering the number of similar players around, as I'm mentioning, then we may not have that much competition for him. He might stay at Ajax a bit longer though.
-Xherdan Shaquiri (Basel)...... Could be a cheaper alternative to Gotze or Hazard for most clubs. To be honest he has impressed me just as much as the others in the list. The fact he's not playing in a big league goes against him I feel. Could end up at Bayern.
-Gareth Bale (Spurs)........ Depending on Spurs success he may stay for the considerable future. Barca are reportedly very keen though so who knows. Fergie hasn't hid his admiration for Bale in the past.
-Javi Martinez (A.Bilbao.)....... Another we have been strongly linked with, but as is the case with Eriksen, Martinez may want to stay at Bilbao a bit longer. He's a local lad which makes it that bit tougher, as many clubs have found out with De Rossi over the years.
-Yann M'Vila (Rennes).......... Another that Madrid want. They actually might need him too. Think they lack someone beside Alonso. Khedira is rubbish imo. Arseanl, ourselves and Chelsea have been linked in the past but should Madrid firm up their interest we all know where he will end up.
-Nico Gaitan (Benfica)...... We could have an agreement for him but we won't know anything until the summer. If we do have him lined up for a reported 30 million pounds then I would be very doubtful that we will move for the likes of Gotze, Eriksen, Shaquiri..... Milan have also been linked and the reports about our potential deal are far from conclusive so who knows what will happen.
I know that a lot of these players are young and may not want to leave for another couple of years but imagine what signing the likes of a Martinez and a Gotze could do for a club. It will be fascinating to see where they end up and how they all develop. Just hope we are there or there abouts when the auction does begin...... "Money isn't a problem" afterall....
Would be pleased with signing any of them tbh. I think we can rule out Neymar and Bale with certaintly. Eriksen, Gaitan or Shaquiri are the most likely imo. My concern with all the attacking midfielders is would they fit into the 4-4-2 we currently play? It would mean them taking on considerably more defensive responsibility than a lot of them currently do.
Would most want either Martinez or M'Vila but can't see us spending the £30mill we would need to get them, and chances are we'll have stiff competition if we go in for either.
Shaquiri looks a good player, destroyed us in Basel. Didn't seem to do his shift off the ball (probably part of the tactics) but on it he was as good as anything I've seen off Gotze or Hazard. That said its the only time I've seen him play and it might not be the norm.
End of the day would be pleasantly surprised if we signed any of the players on that list due to Glazernomics.
Haven't a clue where we would put Eriksen tbh but the others would end up on the wing with our current sytem. Around how much do you think Fergie will have to spend for the next couple of transfer windows ? Haven't a clue myself, if he's allowed spend as much as we did this summer I'd be happy.
Well Gill said a few years ago that we have £20million a year for transfers which could be supplemented by sales (Gibson + Diouf maybe 8-10 million?) so possibly £30million. Then there's the wages on top of that. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not confident the Glaziers will allow the club enough funds to compete for the top players. There might be a bit more available if they get the Singapore share issue out before the end of the season but that's looking unlikely.
Spent a while out injured and had a drop of form recently but think that would still be far to little to get him. Santos would only get 50% of the transfer fee so can't see him going for less that £25-30 mill.
As for Gotze and Eriksen then I think we should try and sign either of them at the first possible opportunity. Gotze especially is already a complete player but is likely to improve even further, Eriksen is a bit behind him at the moment but I still think he could improve our team.
Apparently it's a 30 million budget this summer. Agree that I'd also for Gotze/ Eriksen at the first opportunity but it seems both will stay at their clubs past the summer. Hazard may leave though.
Wonder if that would include sales? I'd expect a few players to leave this summer. Would love to sign any of those 3. Gotze would top the list quite comfortably but Hazard and Eriksen would definitely get me excited as well.
From the story I read it was 30 million with further money possibly raised from sales. Who can you see leaving ? Same, any of the 3 would be really exciting.
Macheda and Berba are most likely I think, wouldn't be surprised if he let Anderson and Park go as well with Scholes returning, Cleverley emerging and Pogba needing games. Owen will probably be off, PIG will definitely be off. Nothing major but could probably raise £5-10million and a cut a fair bit off the wage bill.
Think the whole Sneijder thing will quiet down this summer, he's been injured most of the season and it's pretty clear we're not interested in him any more.
