    Just made a lovely assist for Holland's 2nd goal against Turkey. Only watched the 2nd half, he hasn't had a whole lot of the ball but when he has he's used it well.

    I like him but I don't think at the moment he's an improvement on what we've already got. Could be a very good player in a season or two but personally would rather we signed a more polished player who'll improve our midfield immediately.

    I believe Strootman would not be available for the Champions League.

    Here is an example:

    Player A features for Club A in a Europa League second qualifying round tie. Player A has been linked with a possible move to Club B, who are participating in the qualifying stages of the Champions League.

    If Player A is subequently sold to Club B, he would not be able to play in the qualifying rounds of either the Champions League or Europa League.

    However, provided Club A do not reach the group stages of the Europa League, Player A could be registered to play for Club B in the group stage of the Champions League or Europa League, as per rule 18.07 of the regulations of the two competitions for 2011/12.

    Under the same set of circumstances, Player A would also be free to play in the knockout stages of either the Champions League or Europa League, provided he had previously been registered for the group stages with Club B.

    If Club A were to reach the group stages of the Europa League, Player A would not be able to play for Club B in European competition in the 2011/12 season.

    If we sign Strootman who will he be competing with for a position in team - Carrick, Cleverley/Anderson or both positions? I've seen little of Strootman, so I want to gain a better understanding of the type of player he is.

    I would say Carrick is the more likely although it could be either. Strong, good engine, likes a tackle, good on the ball, and he's got a decent shot on him. Being left footed as well is a bonus. Only watched him twice this season but he impressed both times.

    Gabriele Marcotti who works for ESPN and who I find to be reliable has said PSV have made Strootman available for transfer. The fee is thought to be between £15m-£20m. AC & Liverpool are showing a major interest, but he has said he would prefer a move to United.

    Not really sure what to make of this guy. After first being linked with us, it seems he's been flirting with a few other teams, although hearing he wants to come to us is good. Centre midfield's been a hot transfer topic for us for years. If we're going to get someone there, I'd rather us go for a youngster like Strootman that a bigger name, unless it's De Rossi

    I've seen very little of Strootman since last season when I thought he was a little raw. He has the tools to be an excellent box to box midfielder but I would personally prefer Lars Bender as I think he's a more rounded player who has been excellent this season. De Rossi is a pipe dream, signed a 5 year £8million contract around this time last year and is 30 in the summer.
