Italian clubs to accept defeat over Manchester United starlet Pogba > Manchester United > Sport | Click Manchester

Would be great if he signed a new deal. Himself and Cleverley is a potentially very good midfield partnership.

Don't know about a Pogba and Cleverley partnership Irishmanc. The two are attack minded players and they could lack balance. It could be similar to the Anderson and Cleverley pairing which was discussed in the balance of midfield thread.

I can see your point but I'd regard Pogba more of an all round midfielder, Cleverley too. I think two all round midfielders can work in tandem in the middle if they have the right work rate - Parker and Modric being an example.

I wouldn't class Parker as an all round midfielder, he's a holding midfielder in my book....

I think Pogba and Cleverley could work, they've both got the legs to get up and down the pitch and neither is poor defensively. Doubt Fergie will choose to play them together though as he usually likes a holding passer like Fletch or Carrick with a more attacking player. We started the season with 2 attacking midfielders though and it worked pretty well, we conceded a lot of chances however.

I'm not completely convinced with Pogba's defensive game, just yet anyway. I've not really seen his defensive qualities for the reserves.

How about Tunnicliffe? Could he come back from loan and be pushing for first team ? Have been following him on twitter and he seems to have the right attitude, could he be the nearest thing to Keano that we have?

He's an option although I think he's more likely to go out on loan again next season, maybe to a Premiership team where he'd get games if anyone wants to take him. He's a player in the box to box mould that we've not had since Keano left although our style hasn't really required it to be honest. He's probably physically and possibly mentally ready to come back to the club but playing as a box to box midfielder is one of the most challenging roles in football, very few players have the ability and know how to play the role well so if that's the role Fergie's plans for him to play then I think he's better off on loan again.

Yes Mathias. Plays as a striker. Scores quite a few goals. I think his other brother plays in France somewhere, might be wrong.

Hard to know what to believe really. Talksport ran a story this morning saying he's still in negotiations with us and wants a deal sorted soon. Who knows.

Also, he's not a defensive midfielder.

From what I've seen of interviews with Pogba he's pretty positive about staying with Utd and getting involved in the first team.

His agent is a big problem though chances are he asks for crazy fees for "brokering" deals which I feel could see us losing out on Pogba. This guy runs Italian football he's got all the big stars signed to him and he moves them around regularly this is how he makes his money now if he can get Juve to stump up big wages I can see him convincing Pogba to move even if it's not in his best interests as a footballer.

Utd have a strong tradition of bringing through young players from our academy side and giving them a chance in football in Italy in the past they've had a poor record of giving young players opportunities (not sure if the attitude has changed recently).

Like any transfer until I see it officially confirmed on a club website with the player holding a shirt or scarf above their head I tend not to believe it 3 weeks ago he'd apparently signed for City, the week before that it was Arsenal and before that in was Milan.

Fergie on Pogba staying: "It's possible. There's been no progress on his contract talks."

Seen him come on against Stoke and he was great. Quick 1-2 passing and that is what it's all about know-a-days. He's very strong aswell and think he'll be knocking on the door for a regular start for next season.

Rumours of a move to Juve again tonight. Personally think it's just agent talk. Moving to Italy would be a big mistake for him as I understand it's harder for youngsters to breakthrough. If he does move I think it'll be mostly down to his agent.

Yes, Italian football is a no no for him in my books, because their game is soooooooo slow its untrue, and they love their older players. He will get his start later on tonight, and hopefully impress futher which will result in more starts. Then he cant start to think about signing, and his agent can f*ck off!

Pogba's situation moreso than Morrison's starts to drain my love of football. I find it disheartening an 18-19 year old, who has barely kicked a ball in anger can have such contract negotiations. Anyone else feel the same?

Yep. Badly advised. Agent is a right idiot. Pogba can't go without blame though. Actions Fergie is taking is good and he's got Rio mentoring him who went through a long contract process, he'll be telling him what a big mistake it is and will be if he leaves United.

Either sign or stay in the reserves for the rest of the season, pointless introducing him to the first team and spending time making him a better footballer if he wants to fuck off. I'm sick of this bollocks.

Is the reason he wasn't involved against Ajax definitely contract talk? Was kinda hoping he had picked up a knock in training or summat......

Seems contract issues is the reason Pogba didn't feature for the reserves and Ajax. It's the correct decision in my opinion.

United could lose second teenaged star, says agent - Premier League - Football - The Independent

The title of the headline is worrying, however the quotes from Pogba's agent are quite positive in that:
    - He hasn't signed a deal with another club
    - He will try and sort out a deal with United before speaking to other clubs
    - Both parties want the same solution........ Just seems like a money matter.

Well not all bad news then. I'm fairly confident that he'll stay but if he doesn't so be it, not much more the club can realistically do to keep a untried 18 year old.

    https://twitter.com/#!/MRaiola

Apparently that's his agent. Been following it for a few days and seems legit, hoping he'll be giving some good news fairly soon.

Yeah I'm starting to feel the same. If he stays great if he leaves so be it. His agent seems like some plum from what I've heard.
