Could it potentially be an interference for his replacement if Fergie is still involved with the club after retiring ? Saw a documentary on Bill Shankly recently saying that it took a while for him to accept that he wasn't the man in charge any more after retiring.

That is a concern. I think Fergie will do whatever is best for United, as always. If it comes apparent Fergie is having a detrimental effect on the team I think he will distance himself.

Tough one this. Whatever Fergie decides to do after he retires, the club and fans have to respect his wishes and go along with, but i'd prefer him to take a total step back from the club.

Whoever takes over is going to have a near impossible job, with what Fergie and United have done over the last 25 years. If he was to stay on in some role he would cast an imposing shadow over the new manager and I personally think he would make his job a lot harder!

Who does everyone think should be approached as next manager?

Sir Matt said the same thing when he stood down, but as everyone knows it was hard to oversee someone else taking over something you had built and not getting an input.... plus just being there is hard for another manager to put his stamp on the team, after all how many shoulders can you look over when S.A.F finishes and still wants to do his best for United. He should do it as a world wide ambassador, his word is held in high esteem everywhere, as it should be.
