A step back for the younger players tonight for my money. Morrison was the one to shine and looks ready for a place on the bench. From tonight's showing I think Fergie is correct to hold back the youngsters.

I think it helps when the youngsters are introduced with the first 11 and not just a carling cup team of mis matched players. Example, introducing Pogba next to Carrick when we are winning comfortably and in control of a game.

Agreed se7en. Easy to criticise youngsters in games like that. Benfica for example, there was no need for Gibson to be on the bench with other CM options on the bench. I've got nothing against Gibson, but he's not United standard and was nearly sold in the summer and now he's just blocking young players, same for Diouf. Kiko should have gone on loan too.

Exactly. It's why Fergie did not start the younger players last night. From last night I would say Pogba and Morrison are not ready to start Premier League games.

Not sure on the blocking comment. If Fergie thought the young players are ready they would be ahead of Gibson.
