I think Berbatov is capable of playing the same role as Welbeck. Berbatov and Rooney formed a similar partnership at the start of last season. With Welbeck though United will play at a higher tempo due to his preference of one touch football and movement, which is tougher for opposition teams to defend against.

As we stand if Berbatov was given a run in the team I think he would score more goals than Welbeck.

I do smile at flat track bully comment. At one time he was criticised for not scoring and now he is criticised for scoring in batches

I don't think we'll sell him unless we bring in another striker, Berbatov hands in a request or Macheda performs well on loan and Fergie thinks he's ready to be a regular part of first team squad.

Fergie's always said that he likes having 4 main strikers, we have 4 very different top class strikers at the moment so as long as Berba get a decent amount of game time I think he'll still be here next season.

The success of Macheda's loan could decide whether Berba stays or goes in the summer. Hope he stays though.

I agree at his age he wants to play more football and wouldn't blame him at all but all his recent comments are that he wants to stay. I don't his trip was transfer orientated myself and I would be surprised if he leaves before the summer

I find it hard to believe we'll sell him in January, summer is much more plausible. I wouldn't blame him if he did want to leave but as said by Crerand Legend the only reasons I could see the club wanting rid right now is if we were bringing in another striker or needed to meet interest payments.

Been plenty of Twitter talk about the Glaziers struggling to make interest payments on their American businesses. Also heard that in the latest club accounts our cash reserves had gone down significantly without any transfer activity in the period. Might all be bollocks, I'm sure if its true andersred will have a blog on it soonish.

Yesterday morning it was said he was in Frankfurt because of a flight transfer to Sofia. Apparently he's done that a few times. What he's going back to Sofia for, I don't know.

Was surprised Berbatov didn't start or come on. We missed a link between midfield and attack. Thought Welbeck struggled in the role and it could be the reason our attacks faltered. No Rooney and we need a goal in the last ten minutes but we still don't see Berbatov - I think he could leave in the summer, we may as well get him off the wage bill if he isn't going to be used.
