These games on Fridays are not good for me. Friday is Darts night! Hope they progress. Attack is incredible and Paul McGuiness has the task of deciding which of these he wants to play; Daehli, Wilson, Januzaj, Pereira and Barmby, midfield isn't much worse with Rothwell back too, defence is solid and improved with Ioannou back who was very impressive despite still being a schoolboy in last year's FAYC. Gollini is also solid, improving with each game, Sutherland may play ahead of him though, there isn't much between them, Gollini is the bigger of the 2.
Team: Gollini; Love, Grimshaw, Ioannou, Rowley; Pearson, Weir; Barmby, Januzaj, Daehli; Wilson.
Subs: Sutherland, Dalley, Rudge, Gorre, Byrne.
Good, brave goalkeeping from Gollini.
1-0 Burnley, Howieson scores with a header from 6 yards out.
1-1, Weir. Nice cool finish from Weir. A fantastic back heel from Januzaj created the opportunity.
1-1 at half time.
Rudge replaces Barmby.
2-1 United, Ioannou. Good volleyed finish from the defender.
2-2, Gilchrist equalises for Burnley. Grimshaw will be disappointed by his defending.
3-2 United, Love. A fine strike from outside the penalty area by Donald Love regains United's lead. Daehli with the assist.
Dalley replaces Ioannou. Possible injury for Ioannou.
3-3, Gilchrist. Poor back pass from Dalley.
3-3 after 90 minutes. The game goes into extra time.
3-3 at half time of extra time.
4-3 Burnley. Hattrick for Gilchrist.
Byrne replaces Pearson.
Daehli just wide in the dying minutes.
Burnley win 4-3 after extra time.
Big shame to lose that. Controlled the game really just caught on the break a few times.
It's been said plenty of times before but results aren't everything at this level. A youth cup team we had a few years back often gets referred to that were also knocked out at the first hurdle - Johnny Evans, Gerard Pique, Ryan Shawcross, Darron Gibson, Fraizer Campbell and Guiseppe Rossi were all part of that side.
Very surprised and disappointed to return and see this result. When I left it was still 0-0 after 30 mins.
Just watched the highlights. Gilchrist looks like a talent, he scored 19 goals so far this season. Wouldn't be surprised if he joins a top side next season.
