Thread: Australian Open 2013

    Australian Open 2013

Nadal has pulled out with a stomach virus due to it effecting his preparation. Nadal has not played since his second round loss to Rosol (ranked 100 at the time) at Wimbledon. Another disappointing set back for the 11 time grand slam winner but at 26 years of age he has many years ahead of him in the game.

Heather Watson a doubt for the Tournament due to elbow injury. Hope she recovers in time.

Azarenka had to pull out of the Brisbane open this week due to toe injury caused by a bad pedicure!

Sharapova also pulled out of Brisbane as precaution over collar bone injury.

It will be interesting to see how aggressive Murray plays. Apparently that's what he's been working on with Lendl over the winter. After winning the U.S Open the shackles should be off now for him, I'd expect a good few more slams to come his way. Great chance here as you say with Nadal still out.

Juan Monaco (seeded 11) first casualty on mens side.

Tonight there will be an interesting match between Wozniacki and Lisiscki from Germany. Lisicki knocked out Sharapova in Wimbledon and has a powerful serve and general game. Lisicki's form has not been great of late but if her game comes together she may hit Wozniacki off the court. If Lisicki is not at her best I think Wozniacki consistency may stand her in good stead in three sets.

    Hewitt out today to Tipsaveric

"baby fed" (Dimitrov) and suposedly Sharapova's new boyfriend also out today
