Indeed, looked good for West Ham at the end of the season. They could probably get another striker in aswell as strengthening the whole squad with the money they got for Carroll.
He's scoring goals for fun, which is the measure of a striker ....... but he's a wierd one for me. Outside the area he doesn't look all that great. Touch seems poor, can't make a pass etc but as soon as he gets in the 18 yard box he turns into one of the deadliest strikers in the league.
Why did Newcastle agree to this? Ba would be a fantastic signing for Spurs, an alternative to Adebayor, who would command a high transfer fee and wages. Adebayor is the better player though.
Not a clue. He had something similar in his West Ham contract which allowed him to leave on a free when they got relegated. Must have a good agent or summat.
Well as much as I think he's a good player not sure we need him. He's different from what we have currently and would compliment each of our current strikers well but if we do sign him can't see Berba sticking around in the summer.
Ba also has a problem with one of his knee's. That's why Stoke didn't sign him last season. Doesn't seem to be effecting him at the moment but doctors seem to think it will end his playing career early.
Is this a respectable website? I've never heard of it before.
I don't particularly like them but you can't really argue with how they run their clubs they make them live within their means so they'll be around for future generations. Fans might not like the no risk approach as it can be seen as a lack of ambition at times but Birmingham were in a much safer position under their control than they are under Carson Yeung.
As for this they shouldn't of gone into that detail but my understanding was they were answering a question honestly about why West Ham just let a player of his quality go considering they paid £500k & £35k a week for 6 months.
I don't think Sullivan needed to be honest. Does it come across as him being bitter/sour grapes for allowing a quality player to have a relegation release clause?
It is a bit sour grapes but he didn't call a press conference to hand out this information I think it came from a West Ham program or fanzine interview he did.
He probably over stepped a line talking about the fee but he didn't make that public information Harry Redknapp pretty much revealed it in January.
At the time I can see why West Ham took the deal and gave him the release clause because like he said if he hadn't worked out and his knee gave in did they want a £40k a week striker in the Championship.
In a world of carefully thought out PR statements and undisclosed fees it's nice when you actually see some facts after all it is our money football clubs are spending. Should we not know what our clubs are spending it on? It's a nice thought
