I think AVB isn't helped by a lack of message coming from the top and by that I mean the chairman.
The club is clearly in transition and they missed out on their key signing in the summer when they failed to get Luka Modric instead settling for Raul Merieles.
I think the players need a bit of a reality check if players like Terry, Lampard & Drogba want to stay at the club they need to accept reduced roles that will involve rotation like Scholes & Giggs have had to at Utd.
Also, from his recent comments it appears it's not him signing any of the players Chelsea have a director of football who signs the players he just coaches them.
I think he's getting a harder time than he deserves because he was a bit frosty to the press when he first turned up so he didn't make himself many friends early on.
He's done a poor job but as far as I'm concerned but he's been left with a stagnant and declining team which isn't his fault. Can't see the sense in him being sacked this season even if they get knocked out by Napoli (I think they will), but I couldn't see the sense in getting him in the first place based on one (admittedly very good) season with Porto and one decent season with Academica.
I agree he was probably promoted to early but it's a gamble it wasn't just the winning things with Porto it was the way he won them with high pressing attacking football that made Chelsea think he could be what they're looking for.
At Chelsea at the start of the season he tried to change the way they played just like Ancelotti before him and Scolari before him but these players are to old to change so he's sort of given up and gone back to the old way of playing but without Drogba to score the goals they've struggled.
I think he knows what he wants to do but it's a work in progress they've signed some good young players Mata & Romeu have starred this season, Ramires has just signed for another 3 years, Lukaku will hopefully come through next season & they just signed an exciting winger from Genk for next season.
For me they've got to give him next season if they don't the new manager will just extend the transition by another season as he'll want to take stock of his squad whereas AVB knows who the bad eggs are and who's got to go.
Shocking performance from Chelsea. Too many soft players - Meireles, Ramires etc. Ability counts for nothing if you don't have the right charchter. Meireles always breezes through games, he might have the odd nice touch here and there that leads to people hyping him up but the only way you can judge a player is how much effect he has on a game - Chelsea's midfielders do nothing. As for their defenders....
Another loss = equals more pressure on AVB. How many more games can he last? Three more games is my guess when Chelsea have been knocked out of the Champions League. We know how much Roman loves the Champions League.
I'm not sure going out of the Champions League will seal his fate but their League form has been shocking. He's on thin ice and needs to put 5-6 wins together but can't see it happening, don't think the senior players who should be stepping up are helping him. Lampard has been pretty disgraceful really imo.
Not the most surprising news I'll hear this week. Player power is far too great at Chelsea. Chelsea is a terribly run club in my opinion - they will never have long term success by sacking their manager every year.
It's good for Chelsea's rivals he has been sacked. He would have made them a very good team in the long term imo, it's not like if Chelsea fail to win trophy's they will be in financial trouble. Lampard and Terry etc. need to accept they shouldn't be top dogs anymore but we all know they are pally with the owner.
