Appointed now. He will be gone in two seasons if he doesn't win the Champions League.
Over on a forum I am on daily there was a large debate between Porto and Chelsea squads, success etc. It got rather heated with a few sly digs being thrown but the overall view was that the manner in which Chelsea pursued Villas-Boas was disgusting.
Expensive manager but could prove to be good value. He is much like Mourinho without the arrogance. I fear that Chelsea will be back to their best next season.
Maybe the challenge is too big for him. Should be doing a much better job. But it's not his fault the decline of some key players (Cech, Terry, Lampard and Drogba, to be exact). Another worrying factor is the vulnerability of that defensive system. Until proven otherwise, Chelsea will fight, at best, for the Champions League Spot.
Previously, it was almost impossible to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Iirc, they managed a 86-match unbeaten run until 2008. That was a terrific record. Now, two defeats in a row in a two "derbies." Definitely it's worry.

He needs to be given time but I don't think he'll get it with Roman's track record... he wants instant success, which is both wrong and right. Wrong because managers need time but right because with the money he spends he obviously expects something back straight away.
I've just heard on the radio this is Chelsea's worst start to their season for 11 years. Chelsea is a club clearly in transition but Roman does not do transition.
Refereeing decisions can change the course of a game. Luiz not receiving a red card against Newcastle could change the course of AVB's career at Chelsea. The win could boost confidence and act as springboard for Chelsea to go on a run.
Tonight's match could have a hell of a bearing on AVB's future at Chelsea.
Chelsea now out of the top four after today's results. Wasn't Scolari sacked because Chelsea were outside of the top four? My memory fails me. Chelsea recent record reads - played four, drawn 3 and lost 1.
He's done poorly but don't see what Chelsea would gain from sacking him. The biggest problem there is a squad lacking quality, going to take AVB more than 6 months to fix that.
Looks like Villas-Boas' time might be coming to an end. If Napoli knock them out in Europe then the writing will be on the wall. Had a laugh at this link when I saw it... Benitez next man in potentially.. Well if there's a guy to waste masses of cash he's your man. Would love it to happen.
I do think Chelsea's fans are too hard on AVB. He's taken over a team/club in transition. Their three key players over the last decade - Lampard, Terry and Drogba are on the decline and are nearing the end (the sooner these three players leave the better for whoever is Chelsea's manager). Throw in Luiz and Torres, both under-performing expensive signings (not AVB signings) means the manager's is a tough ask for anyone, nevermind a relatively inexperienced manager at a top Premier League club. We are going through a transition but managerial stability is the key difference - Fergie is allowed to plan 2 or 3 years in advance where as Chelsea's manager is all about the here and now. Ambramovich has to shoulder some of the blame in my opinion.
