Match Report: Manchester United 4-0 Norwich City
By Lee Savery.
Shinji Kagawa scored a hat-trick in a dominant United victory at Old Trafford.
The Japanese international had put the Red Devils ahead, just before half time, as he latched onto Robin van Persie’s lay off, after a Antonio Valencia cross, before finishing from close range.
Norwich spent most of the game defending. They were resilient and hard to break down. For this, it was no surprise that it took United until the 76th minute for the lead to be doubled. A wonderfully clipped pass, over the top from Michael Carrick, found Wayne Rooney who squared it to Kagawa who simply passed the ball past Mark Bunn.
The hat trick was completed 11 minutes later. A move started by Kagawa was finished by Kagawa as he latched onto a pass from Rooney before lobbing the ball over Bunn.
The excellent Rooney got a goal he deserved when he hit a pearler from 25 yards out that left Bunn with no chance.
United were ruthless and played some excellent football. The game was one way traffic from start to finish and apart from decent spells of possession, Norwich were never a threat on the attack. United only had 13 shots at goal but four found the net to put the lead back at 15 points for the time being.
Another clean sheet for United also means David de Gea has not conceded in 447 league minutes. That criticism of the Spaniard seems a long time ago now.
United face Real Madrid next at Old Trafford on Tuesday as the current unbeaten run continues.
