SEA’s Player Ratings – Manchester United vs Arsenal
Welcome to the Stretford End Arising’s Player Ratings.
On a freezing Monday night Manchester United reclaimed top spot by defeating rivals Arsenal 1-0 at Old Trafford. Ji-Sung Park was the hero of the night when he netted moments before half time to grab his sixth goal of the season, his highest tally in a season for United. Anderson continued to impress and the defensive unit combined to prevent Arsenal from having any clear cut chances. Man United are now two points clear with a game in hand.
After the game members of the SEA community were asked to score individual player’s performance with a score from 0-10. The average score was calculated and the results are below. Here are the individual member ratings vs Arsenal. Register now with the SEA Forum to influence the ratings against Chelsea.
Edwin – 7.2: Very few saves to make. Distribution was much better. Too eager occasionally in starting a counter attack leaving Rooney to challenge for an aerial ball, but not a team mate in sight. (S.E.Arising)
Rafael – 8.2: Great performance. Really has become the right-sided Evra. (Jaymotty)
Rio – 8.4: Immense, absolutely dominated the Arsenal attack. Looked comfortable on the ball with some good passing. (Jaymotty)
Vidic – 8.2: Strong in the tackle – prevented Arsenal players from turning with ball or time. Won virtually (if not every) header. (S.E.Arising)
Evra – 7.6: Thought he got a bit sloppy in the last 10-20 mins. (JSNFRMN_MUFC)
Nani – 7: Selfish, poor decisions in and around the box and crossing wasn’t great although there wasn’t much to target. (JSNFRMN_MUFC)
Carrick – 7.3: Suffered a spell where he cheaply gave away possession, but overall, he was decent in possession and brilliant at defending the back four. Similar to Berbatov, Carrick is another where he is jumped on after a mistake. An off pass lead to groans and moans from those sat near me. (S.E.Arising)
Anderson – 8.2: United’s best midfielder beginning to look like the player we signed from Porto. (Jaymotty)
Fletcher – 6.7: Lacked quality when possession, but his accustomed energy was present. Improved as the game progressed. (S.E.Arising)
Park – 7.5: superb header for the goal, battled nonstop and finally justified that fringe (Jaymotty)
Rooney – 7.4: Worked tirelessly, but lacked support from the wings so occasionally found himself isolated. Woeful penalty. (S.E.Arising)
Giggs – 6.8
SEA’s Man Of The Match – Ferdinand
